Protect Yourself from Hantavirus Exposure

With yard cleanups now underway, it’s important to be aware of the risks associated with hantavirus. This potentially fatal virus is spread through airborne particles from rodent droppings, urine, and saliva. Disturbing contaminated dust—such as during sweeping or cleanup—can put you at risk.

Exposure can lead to Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS), a serious respiratory illness that begins with symptoms like fever and muscle aches, and can quickly progress to shortness of breath and severe lung complications.

MSA’s free Hantavirus Awareness webinar is available anytime through our SkillsPass dashboard.
