MASK PROTOCOL UPDATE
July 5, 2021
As a Springbrook manager, you are receiving this
advance notice of the following mask protocol updates.
This email will be sent to all Springbrook staff
(less SDS/HCBS) at 2 pm today.
As you may be aware, the NYS Office for People with Developmental Disabilities recently updated several COVID-19 protocols. This email is to clarify mask expectations at Springbrook.

Effective immediately, in compliance with all current OPWDD guidelines, masks are no longer required for fully VACCINATED staff (unless transporting students/residents in Springbrook vehicles). Masks remain mandatory for unvaccinated staff.

This means that if you ARE vaccinated you can choose to wear a mask while on Springbrook property (indoors and outdoors) or not, but you are not required to do so.

We appreciate your continued commitment and cooperation as we move forward together!
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Unvaccinated staff must wear masks on any Springbrook property (indoors and outdoors), office location, or Springbrook-operated home (on or off campus)
  • Vaccinated staff must wear masks while transporting students/residents in Springbrook vehicles
  • Vaccinated staff may wear masks at their own discretion at all other times, but are not required to do so
  • Badges must be worn at all times by all staff while on-site at ANY Springbrook location (including homes, office buildings, and campuses)
  • You may be asked to show your badge while on the clock
  • You may ask to see badges of other staff to verify vaccination status
SPRINGBROOK MASK RULES
FULLY VACCINATED STAFF

  • May wear masks at their own discretion but are not required to do so
  • Must wear masks while transporting service recipients in Springbrook vehicles
  • May take meal and break times with other fully vaccinated employees
  • May have family-style meals with students and residents
HALF / NON-VACCINATED STAFF

  • KN95 masks must be worn at ALL times while on the clock - regardless of the setting
  • KN95 masks must be worn in all building/house parking lots, entrances, exits, hallways, and corridors (any place where you may interact with another person)
  • KN95 masks must be worn within offices when another employee is present (even if someone just "pops in" for a moment)
  • KN95 masks may be removed when an employee is alone in an office with the door closed
  • Must take meal times and break times alone
  • May not eat in the presence of students, residents, or staff
  • Avoid unnecessary interaction with other employees when in a Springbrook building or house
FULLY VACCINATED?

What does "fully" vaccinated mean? It means that two weeks have passed since your second dose of Moderna/Pfizer, or two weeks have passed since your first and only dose of Johnson & Johnson.
  • If you have not received your second dose of Moderna/Pfizer, you are not fully vaccinated
  • If you have not yet passed the two-week anniversary of your second dose, you are not fully vaccinated
WEAR YOUR BADGE!

Vaccination status at Springbrook will be verified using our new ID badges. Badges must be WORN AT ALL TIMES while on-site at ANY Springbrook location (including homes, office buildings, and campuses)

If you are fully vaccinated and do not yet have a new badge, contact Human Resources at humanresources@springbrookny.org.
