The Cinema Arts Centre is Proud to Host the 15th Annual Huntington High School Film Festival

Support Huntington’s aspiring young filmmakers at this lively evening featuring the best movies made this year at Huntington High School! Enjoy a family evening out with free movies and support our talented local students

Admission is free. CLICK HERE to RSVP. The general public is welcome to attend as are entire families. The festival’s films will run for a total of about 60 minutes.

“I am very excited to assemble this year’s film festival," said art teacher Heather Swan, who leads Huntington High School’s video arts program. “We will be presenting a diverse compilation of 20 films that were produced by students representing all four of the video courses as well as a project by my media arts students. We are very fortunate and thankful to have the Cinema Arts Centre hosting this event, since the venue allows us to view the videos on an actual movie screen.”

The filmmakers include Landry Flynn, Sena Knopf, Riley LaCosta, Owen Stevens, Bladimir Cruz Serrano, Samuel Klaaren, Estefany Salamanca, Alex Tine, Cian Henrick, Ethan Ambrosio, Charles Stanforth, Eva Richter, Ella Van Horn, Joseph Tetrault, Daniel Sorto, Rory Ramirez Quantanilla and Michael Mendikyan.

All of us at the Cinema Arts Centre look forward to hosting this event each year. Your Membership support helps make it possible for us to do so.

Our Next Crossing Party Lines Discussion:

TUE, May 21 · 7:00 PM EDT

Abortion

RSVP HERE: https://www.meetup.com/crossing-party-lines-ny-long-island/events/300432384/

Abortion remains a deeply contentious issue in the United States marked by passionate discussions and fierce political battles. Proponents argue that women should have the right to make decisions about their own bodies, including whether to terminate a pregnancy, citing issues of bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom. They emphasize access to safe and legal abortion services to protect women's health and ensure equality. On the other hand, opponents view the issue in terms of the rights of the unborn baby, contending that life begins at conception and should be protected. They raise moral, ethical, and religious objections to abortion, advocating for legal restrictions and alternatives such as adoption.

At this meeting we will be discussing this issue, including:

  • Which side of this debate are you on?
  • What do folks on the “other side” not understand about your views on abortion?
  • Have you seen this debate shift over the years? If so, how?
  • Where do you draw the line between a “woman's right to choose” and the “rights of the unborn”?
  • What role, if any, should the government play in regulating abortion access?
  • Does the level of governmental or societal support for raising children impact your opinion of this issue?
