ACCS Accreditation Visit

As an accredited school with the Association of Classical Christian Schools, we are scheduled for our renewal visit, so you may notice a few guests at our school on Thursday and Friday this week. This visit gives us the opportunity to gain valuable feedback from experienced administrators regarding how our school meets the ACCS standards, where our strengths are, and how we can grow.

Teacher Appreciation Week, Feb. 19-23

Mark your calendars for Teacher Appreciation Week, earlier this year to avoid some of the May craziness! We will take dedicated time to esteem our Providence teachers next week, February 19-23. Please talk with your children about ways to show honor to our fantastic faculty members. We have an opportunity for parents and students to staff and provide food for a potluck on Tuesday, February 20.  In case you wanted to surprise your child’s teacher with a little something and were wondering what they like, here is a list of teacher favorites.

Informational Meeting, Feb. 20

Admissions season is in full swing so invite any friends who are considering applying to Providence to our next informational meeting: next Tuesday, February 20, from 6:30-8:00 (website, Facebook). Families are invited to come early as doors open at 6:15; no RSVP is required.

Providence Profiles

Kerbi Hardwick

First Grade

Mrs. Hardwick graduated from Abilene Christian University with an interdisciplinary study degree specializing in preK to fourth grades. She has taught at Providence since 2022.

“I am grateful that teaching at Providence allows me to foster virtue and the truth of God found in scripture. I love that our school cultivates lifelong learners and focuses on developing the whole child.

My husband and I selected Providence for our own daughter primarily because of the collaborative model. We value the fact that other believers are walking alongside us to provide the relational, academic, and spiritual support needed for our daughter to flourish. It is an honor and joy to now do that for parents in my own first grade class.

I am so grateful to teach at a school where I get to shepherd the hearts of my precious students. Being able to help each student develop peer and personal interactions as they learn how to love others, to love God, and to work as unto the Lord is a privilege and a blessing. My prayer for each student is that they realize they are made in God's image and that nothing can separate them from His love and grace.”

Lindsey Watson

Latin

Mrs. Watson has a BA in English from Texas A&M University, with a minor in classical studies. She has worked at Providence since 2019.

“I'm so thankful that God gave us the gift of language to know him and to understand the world around us. I love the emphasis on great books and ideas [in classical education]; I love the many ways students are equipped with skills to read, write, and speak as a means of understanding and then participating in the 'great conversation.' Introductory Latin is a delightful way to help students appreciate the systems of grammar and the interconnectedness of vocabulary across languages. It is rewarding to help them lay a foundation of understanding that will benefit them as they advance both in English and foreign language studies.

My work as the parent liaison keeps the 'why' and 'how' of our collaborative, classical, Christian model at the forefront of my mind. I love the opportunity to hear from other parents about their home days. Sharing both the joys and the challenges of our experiences, and preparing resources for families reminds me daily how all the little pieces of the puzzle contribute to the eternal impact of our work with our children.

It is so important that children learn to view themselves and every aspect of the world in light of reality--that is, of God's perspective. There is no subject where our Christian faith is irrelevant. We can enjoy the structure of a sentence diagram and the delight of a poetic phrase because God made language as a reflection of his own orderliness and beauty. Our first memory work is John 1:1, ‘In principio erat Verbum.’ I pray that all of our efforts, particularly in language education, ultimately serve to lead students to the knowledge, love, and worship of Him who is the true Word.”
