Health and Safety
Teams have developed and agency staff have been trained on emergency response plans. Providers have been encouraged to use social distancing, hand hygiene and explore visitation guidelines.

Direct Support Professional Requirements
DODD has temporarily waived some agency Direct Support Professional (DSP) requirements by allowing abbreviated training, and online First Aid and CPR. Furthermore; age, High School Diploma and background check requirements for alternative workers have been temporarily changed to increase agencies’ abilities to acquire and retain DSPs.

Service Delivery
The pandemic forced us all to look at service delivery differently. Although no limitations were put on homemaker/personal care services, alternative means of service delivery, like remote support, were among those mentioned in the DODD Service Delivery Guidance.

Adult Day Support
  • Participants wishing to resume adult day support (ADS) may do so after the Team Process and Provider Assurance Process are completed.
  • The Team Process includes a team meeting to discuss the risks/benefits of returning to day programming.
  • If the team decides to more forward, a Team Acknowledgement Form is completed and submitted to the provider and the Provider Assurance Process may begin. The Provider Assurance process requires the provider to complete and submit a Provider Assurance Form to DODD and the County Board.
  • Once the provider receives confirmation of receipt services may restart. Staff wearing PPE, group sizes of no more than 10 total people with separate restrooms and entrances are just a few among the many ways ADS will look differently.
  • Day Programs are required to monitor all personnel and participants multiples times daily. These may be tracked on the Symptom Monitoring Log.
