| | Focused Addiction Recovery | |
Focused Addiction Recovery (FAR) is a Joint Commission accredited, outpatient SUD/SA clinical treatment facility with optional recovery support housing. FAR provides SACOT (PHP), SAIOP (IOP), OP, Outpatient Detox, Peer Support (PSS) as well as basic medical services. FAR also provides the therapy portions of MAT and DWI programs but offer complete programs in these areas (e.g. medical oversight and assessments) via referral relationships.
Other partnerships allow FAR to offer Sober Travel Companion and Intervention services anywhere within the continental US.
Spanish Speaking
FAR is one of the few agencies in the country that provides a Spanish-speaking clinical treatment program supported by Spanish speaking therapists, intake specialists and medical professionals.
Community Partnering
FAR's mission is to provide customized-to-the individual treatment programs along a continuum of care lasting up to 12 months via both on-site and virtual care services. FAR works with other agencies to help patients in recovery find ongoing medical support, jobs, housing, etc. so as to integrate them back into the mainstream of society. Law enforcement and the courts in multiple cities and counties across NC rely on FAR to help treat SUD-affected individuals under their “seek treatment of go to jail” programs.
In addition to FAR’s internal treatment programs, SACOT and SAIOP clients also externally attend regular AA / NA meetings, church services at their option as well as planned Saturday recreational outing events such as going to movies, the beach, bowling, kayaking, etc.
Walking the Gravel Road
Thomas “Woody” Ference CEO at FAR says: Recovery is not easy and requires traveling down the old “gravel road”. That travel is life-long journey of continued focus and regular maintenance.”
Access
FAR is in Duplin County NC but do and have accepted patients from across the US - like a Hazelden-Betty Ford. FAR accepts most major commercial insurance policies and various Medicaid programs.

The NC General Assembly has earmarked $5 million for capacity building for NC Medicaid-enrolled primary care practices across the state to adopt Collaborative Care Management (CoCM).
Eligible primary care practice sites can qualify to receive up to $50,000 to support implementation of the model in-house, $30K for practices that have already adopted the CoCM model in-house and want to expand, or $20K for practices that plan to newly adopt the CoCM model by outsourcing to an external vendor.
To date, 27 practices have been awarded funding to start their new CoCM Services! To apply, interested practices should connect with AHEC’s Practice Support Coaches. For more information about the funding opportunity, as well as more information about the Collaborative Care Management model, visit CCNC’s website.
