January 20, 2021
The button to create your 2021-2022 provider profile is available, but please DO NOT use it yet.

Most providers follow the school district calendars, as such, we are asking that you wait until the calendars are released and reimbursement rates and paid Holidays are determined. This will help to streamline the process and also save you time in the end.

Providers now have the ability to submit a temporary closure through the EFS Mod System. The temporary closures are accessible on the Provider Services Portal under the ATTENDANCE tab. You can upload any corresponding documents that pertain to that closure as well. The Coalition will review your temporary closure submission and if there are any issues we will contact you.
As always, if you have any questions, please reach out to a contract specialist and they will gladly walk you through the process. Keep in mind, notification of a closure needs to be submitted via the Redline within 2 business days of the closure.

Overcoming Burnout In Child Care

We're now into the second year of the pandemic and it's been tough for everyone, making the challenge of burnout even more of a concern now than it has ever been. Here are some strategies that can help.
Preschool Podcast

Alyssa Blask Campbell, M. Ed, CEO and Founder of Seed and Sew LLC, shares with us how educators and parents can support children’s emotional needs. Alyssa breaks down the different areas adults can focus on with children and themselves in order to achieve a successful and continuous habit through habit stacking.
DCF is offering a new virtual instructor-led course, Trauma-Informed Care for Child Care Program Directors (TICD). The goal of this course is to assist child care programs in implementing trauma-informed care for the families they serve. This is a multi-session course via Zoom, which will require the completion of outside assignments and readings.
Upon completion of this course, child care Program Directors will be able to:

  • Recognize the signs of trauma impacting children

  • Examine the importance of self-care

  • Apply tools to help children regulate emotions and behaviors

  • Evaluate the physical learning environment for trauma-sensitive supports

  • Develop a plan for creating a trauma-sensitive program
The Coalition will sponsor up to 10 Directors to attend this 40-hour multi-session course, which requires the completion of outside assignments and readings.
Stipends for Directors will also be available for Directors completing the course successfully. Dates for the TICD course will be announced at the end of January.

Please notify the Coalition at redline@elcnwf.org if you are interested in participating.
Quality Performance System

We would like to remind you to log into the Quality Performance System (QPS) by the 10th of each month to update your staff roster. Once the staff roster has been updated, you must submit the roster so that the system stays current and up to date.

The Office of Early Learning (OEL) requires all providers receiving composite scores to update their rosters at least monthly in the Quality Performance System.
We continue to seek parents to join the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC)

Please download a copy of the flyer by clicking the button below.
Ways you can help us spread the word:

  1. Place a copy of the flyer on your lobby bulletin board
  2. Print copies of the flyer and give it to each of your children to take home
  3. Include a digital copy of the flyer in your parent newsletters or emails

Caring and Sharing for Early Childhood Workshop

Join WFSU Public Media’s Education & Engagement team for an evening all about Caring and Sharing from Sesame Street in Communities (SSIC). 2020 was tough for us all, including our little learners. In this workshop, we will show how to use SSIC resources in your classroom to help children ages 2-5 navigate big feelings and traumatic experiences through art activities, videos, stories, and games.

Two in-service hours are available for early educators who are located in the Big Bend and Northwest region of Florida.
As OEL is reviewing VPK success rates between VPK vs. Non-VPK programs across the state, the Coalition wanted to remind you about the OEL sponsored Virtual Study Buddies (VSB) opportunities, to assist VPK teachers as they review for the end of course assessments that are required for some of the VPK trainings. These sessions are FREE and provide an opportunity for participants to ask clarifying questions and get a better understanding of the course content that they will be testing on.
