Good morning,

We hope your summer is off to a good start! In this issue, we’re sharing resources and information related to two important observances this month: Pride Month & Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month. You'll also find news on upcoming classes and events, as well as an update on our activities in local communities across the Bay Area.

Thank you for all you you do for your patients, clients and community members!

Thank you,

Family Caregiver Alliance

Resources for LGBTQ Family Caregivers

FCA has a long history of supporting and advocating for all family caregivers—including those in the LGBTQ community. We’re proud to offer resources, support groups, webinars, classes and other events addressing the unique needs of LGBTQ caregivers and those in their care. And by partnering with other local organizations, we’re able to reach even more folks who might need personalized support and resources. Here are some of our most popular LGBT-related resources; check our site for more:

Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month

For 40+ years, family caregivers have relied on us for high-quality information, expert guidance and resources on dementia—including Alzheimer’s disease—brain injuries, cognitive impairments and many other conditions. This month, Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness month, we invite you (and the family caregivers you support) to check out our extensive online library of free resources on these conditions. You can do that in two ways on our site, starting at the home page

1) OPTION 1: Hover over "Caregiver Resources" and choose "Health Conditions." You'll see curated content collections, grouped by condition.

2) OPTION 2: Hover over "Caregiver Resources" and choose "All Resources." Then use the filter function on the left to find specific resources, narrowed by your search criteria.

Out & About in Our Communities

As in-person gatherings resume, we’ve been setting up our table at local health fairs, meeting our community members and letting them know about our free services and resources. It’s been wonderful connecting with family caregivers, care recipients, medical and social service providers, and many others. Here are some fairs we’ve attended as well as one that's coming up (if you attend, please come say hi!):

  • May 20 – “Be Strong, Live Long” Health & Wellness Fair, Santa Clara Senior Center
  • May 26 – Senior Health Resource Fair, Brentwood Senior Center
  • June 11 – SOMA Summer Safety Fair, Victoria Manalo Draves Park
