Good morning,
September is the month of back-to-school events, pumpkin spice and the first of autumn's changing leaves. And for those of us in the public health and health care space, it’s also the time of several important observance days:
- World Alzheimer’s Month
- World Dementia Awareness Month
- Sept 13 – National Dementia Caregivers Day
These observances are a great opportunity to spread awareness, share resources, and provide support to those living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias—and support their caregivers as well.
For 40+ years, Family Caregiver Alliance has worked to improve the quality of life for family caregivers, providing direct services to 260,000+ family caregivers in the SF Bay Area and helping more than 21 million family caregivers and professionals worldwide through our resource-rich website.
Working with providers like you, we look forward to helping even more caregivers! Please consider passing our newsletter or info along to other providers, as well as family caregivers who may need expert support.
Take good care and thanks for all you do!

New Website Feature: "Caring for Another" vs. "Caring for Yourself"
|
|
FCA’s website has hundreds of free resources to help family caregivers better care for their care recipients. But did you know that we also have dozens and dozens of resources devoted to helping caregivers take better care of themselves? (And in multiple languages, no less!).
Our newly redesigned website makes it easier than ever for caregivers to find exactly what they’re looking for. Under “Caregiver Resources” on the home page (up top) they can simply choose “Caring for Another” or “Caring for Yourself” to access the most helpful info.

Our Most-Asked Questions from Caregivers
|
|
Do you get questions from clients and patients about caregiving? So do we!
Point them to our FAQs page for valuable info and resources. They’ll find answers to the most common questions we receive about caregiving, such as:
- Can I get paid to care for a family member?
- How can I find respite care?
- How can I help my family member if I don’t live nearby?
- Where can I get more information on assisted living facilities and nursing homes?
In addition to our FAQs, caregivers will find a ton of valuable, high-quality information just by exploring our website. You can also give them our 2-page info sheet for a summary of our free and low-cost support and services to start.
