Quick Links Provider Handbook Webinar Schedule Network-Specific Info Beacon Lens Blog CMS 1500 Claim Form Completion Rule Enforcement As you know, a rendering provider signature is required in field 31 of the CMS 1500 claim form. Beginning Aug. 1, 2019, CMS 1500 claim forms with an empty or blank field 31 will be returned so that a rendering provider signature can be added and the form re-submitted to Beacon. You can also write “Signature on File” to signify that you attest to the information on the claim. Read More FL, NY Providers: Tackle the Opioid Crisis with Project ECHO Project ECHO ® is a community-based public health care initiative that facilitates treatment of common yet complex diseases in under-served areas, developed by Dr. Sanjeev Arora at the University of New Mexico (UNM). This tele-mentoring platform links specialists with field-based providers through virtual clinics, where the specialists and providers share and expand their working knowledge of best practices through collaborative, case-based learning and guided practice. Beacon has collaborated with UNM to offer Project ECHO for Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) and is actively recruiting in Florida and New York. Providers who participate stay informed on the latest advancements in evidence-based and best-practice care, medication assisted treatment (MAT), and obtain ongoing access to patient resources. The Project ECHO format builds provider capabilities to prescribe MAT, improves provider confidence to effectively manage the treatment of patients with OUD, and equips direct care providers with the tools needed to impact the opioid epidemic within their communities. TX Providers: Two Changes to Medicaid Services Texas Medicaid and Healthcare Partnership (TMHP) has recently announced two changes.  Delegated   Psychological Services to Allow More Than One Modifier on the Same Date of Service   Currently, claims for psychological services submitted with more than one modifier for services rendered on the same date of service will deny. Beginning July 1, 2019, claims submitted by a psychologist, licensed psychological associate (LPA), provisionally licensed psychologist (PLP), psychology intern, or post-doctoral fellow for psychological services must be billed with an appropriate modifier on each detail line of the claim, for each date of service, for each provider.

Deactivated   NCCI MUE Limitations for Substance Use Disorder Treatment  Texas Medicaid has received approval from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to deactivate the National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) Medically Unlikely Edit (MUE) limitation currently in place for the H0005 group therapy for substance use disorder treatment for dates of service on or after Jan. 1, 2019. Effective June 1, 2019, there is no longer an MUE limiting H0005 to one per date of service. As a reminder, prior authorization for outpatient treatment services beyond the annual limitation of 135 units per calendar year may be considered with documentation supporting medical necessity for continued treatment services.  To read more, visit the TMHP News Archive site  and scroll to 2019-05 May.
