Provider Satisfaction Survey
As you may recall, Beacon Health Options now partners with SPH Analytics to conduct an annual provider satisfaction survey. We value your feedback, and this survey is one way to capture it. Here’s what to expect:

  • The 2019 provider survey began on September 18, 2019 and will end in mid-October.

  • Practitioners, groups, and facilities will receive an email invitation from SPH Analytics at the email address on file with Beacon’s NetworkConnect system.

  • If you are a provider who serves: 1) ValueOptions of California or 2) Washington under a Health Care Authority in an Integrated Managed Care Region, supplemental survey questions have been added for you to complete. These supplemental questions only apply to these two provider groups.

  • If you have any questions or require assistance regarding the survey, including if you have not received an email invitation by 9/20, please contact SPH Analytics at 1-844-293-5088.

Electronic Provider Portal Line for All Initial Inpatient, Partial Hospitalization, and IOP Requests

Effective August 15, 2019 Texas providers began receiving expedited service for requests for Initial Inpatient, Partial Hospitalization, and IOP requests for authorization. When you request authorizations through the portal, you may call 888-247-9311 for any requests that require review with a clinician. Providers will be able to complete the process in “real time,” rather than waiting for a call back by one of Beacon’s clinicians. Both electronic portal and telephonic requests will be available between August 15, 2019 and October 14, 2019.

Beginning on October 15, 2019, ALL requests for Initial Inpatient, Partial Hospitalization, and IOP levels of care MUST follow the electronic portal process.

When submitting multiple authorization requests, save the most time by entering all authorization requests through the portal first. If any request pends, then a pop-up will appear instructing you to call the pended line at 888-247-9311 with the reference number for each pended authorization request. You must have your reference number in order to speak to a clinician regarding your pended authorization.

This new toll-free telephone line provides real-time access and is intended to make electronic requests the most efficient way to submit authorization requests.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will providers see this new pop-up?
It will pop up each time a portal authorization request is pended.

When should providers call the 888 number?
You should call once you have submitted all requests through the electronic portal and written down each reference number.

What if I don’t have a reference number?
A reference number from a pended authorization request is required when calling the expedited 888 number.
What if I call the 888 number without a pended portal authorization?
The clinician will transfer your call to Beacon’s Customer Service Team.

What happens to calls outside of normal business hours?
Beacon has clinical staff available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, with the goal to live answer your call and complete the pended authorization(s) request in real-time.

What if I’ve never used the portal before?

Delaware, Louisiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New York, and West Virginia Providers:
Treatment Facility Survey arriving via email on October 14 th

Beacon Health Options is pleased to support the development of quality standards across addiction treatment programs. Shatterproof is creating a new quality measurement system for addiction treatment programs, called ATLAS™. ATLAS aims to help people understand treatment options and easily identify high quality addiction treatment programs.

ATLAS gathers data from three sources:
1)     A Treatment Facility Survey
2)    Measures calculated from insurance claims data (including commercial insurance and Medicaid)
3)     Patient-experience data gathered on an online platform

ATLAS quality data will be available to the public, the treatment community, referral sources, policymakers, and payors through an online platform. You will have the opportunity to review this information before it is published for the general public.

As a Beacon Health Options-contracted provider, we are asking you to respond to the Treatment Facility Survey.

  • All specialty addiction treatment facilities in the pilot states of Delaware, Louisiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New York, and West Virginia will be invited to participate in the survey.
  • You will receive the survey invitation via email on Oct. 14, 2019.
  • The email will come from Shatterproof and its analytics partner,
RTI International.
  • You must submit your response before Dec. 22, 2019.
  • Your participation is critical to the success of ATLAS.
  • If your organization does not complete the survey, “information not available” will be displayed in the online dashboard.
  • Individual providers and sober houses (living facilities that do not deliver treatment or detoxification services) will not be included.
Beacon Funding Supports Local Efforts to Combat Opioid Crisis
Grant helps organizations provide medication-assisted treatment to individuals with OUD
We believe that excellent health care is local health care. Standing by that belief, Beacon is awarding $128,000 in grants to four community-based behavioral health organizations that are combatting at the grassroots level the opioid crisis in Massachusetts.

The grant funding will help the organizations increase their ability to provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for individuals with opioid use disorder (OUD). The purpose of the grant program is to help providers increase capacity, improve services, and lay the foundation for a sustainable model of MAT connectivity.

The funded projects are diverse in nature and include:
  • Implementing telebehavioral health in a mobile addiction clinic (Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program, Boston, MA)

  • Developing an outpatient MAT program, including the use of smart phone technology (Bournewood Health Systems, Chestnut Hill, MA)

  • Utilizing Uber Health to decrease transportation barriers and ensure clients’ access to MAT (Lowell House, Lowell, MA)

  • Adopting software technology to increase engagement and adherence to treatment plans (North Suffolk Mental Health, Chelsea, MA)

According to Susan Coakley, president of Beacon’s Northeast Region, the $128,000 in grants in 2019 is part of a larger $250,000 grant program that the company plans to distribute over two years to organizations serving Massachusetts residents with OUD.
