God of new creation,
from the womb of earth
you raised the Lord of life:
may we receive the word of women
who braved the soldiers' spears
and met him in the dawning light;
may we live with morning joy
that we will never die,
through Jesus Christ, the resurrection and the life.
Amen.
from Steven Shakeespeare's Prayers for an Inclusive Church

An illustrated guide for turning the art of gardening into opportunities for reflection and meditation
Contemplative Gardening encourages green thumbs to make a connection between tending to the earth and tending to their own souls, between creation care and community growth. Written by Episcopal priest Pamela Dolan, this book is for real gardeners and armchair ones, retreat centers, churches, seminaries, and readers exploring the intersection of food and faith.
"Nowhere more than by gardening and enjoying gardens, and beyond them, all of nature, can we appreciate more completely that we are part of a greater whole, one that comprises all life on Earth, and one that we continue to degrade and destroy at our peril.”
—From the Foreword by Peter H. Raven, president emeritus, Missouri Botanical Garden, St. Louis, Missouri

Christmas at Sea
Bring your donations to the BPG!
|
|
The Big Provincial Gathering is this month! Please bring your handmade items for Christmas at Sea to be blessed at Friday evening’s Mass. All the items will then be packed and shipped to Port Newark, New Jersey, for distribution to seafarers. If you would like to help underwrite shipping costs, there will be a box available at the registration desk for contributions. Any leftover funds will be donated to Christmas at Sea.
Recipients of the handmade items love to know the name of the person who made their items, so it’s nice to include a gift tag with your first name, last initial & state. Gift tags may be downloaded from the CAS Website, or they will be available on the Christmas at Sea table at the BPG. If your yarn needs special care, like “hand wash only,” that should also be noted on the tag. You can loosely tie the tag on your items with a piece of yarn, or simply bundle them. We will fold and tag the items prior to shipping them.
I look forward to seeing all the handmade items. Thank you!
-Beth, Christmas at Sea Volunteer

The leadership of Province V highly recommends this course! We have a great number of Spanish speakers in our communities. We are here to support you!
Coaches are available to ALL leaders – clergy and lay. You can be coached individually, create a group of people, or bring a team together for creating shared goals and plans. Any of them will offer an introductory session so you can together discern if you are a good fit. If you work in a rural area, you might qualify for free coaching. Find out more and explore coaching with a trained leadership coach!

Networking Conversations
Province V's work in the world is to "Connect. Network. Support." Networks exist for people to gather around areas of interest and share resources with each other. Sometimes, networks host webinars to share information and sometimes they develop new resources to support leaders in their local contexts.
There are a number of networks meeting regularly and several that are just getting organized. Most network meetings last about 60 minutes. See their webpages or email their contact for more information.
For a full list of Networks and other Affiliated Organizations, visit the Province V website.
