Opening Prayer

Anti-Human Trafficking Prayer

Lord, in this moment we stand beside every victim who has been human trafficked.

In this moment, we know you bear their excruciating fear, hurt and pain. May they feel your peace and grace wash over them.

We pray for justice to be served.

We pray for their release from the unbearable dehumanization, anguish and humiliation they feel.

We pray for their liberation from being held captive against their will, and by your grace for Good Samaritans to restore their lives.

We pray for the healing of victims and for their loved ones.

We pray as part of a united, worldwide movement for the empowerment and ability of all Churches, of all religions, International and Civil Society Organizations, Governments, National Authorities, Business Communities, and People of Good Will everywhere to put an end to human trafficking.

We pray never to forget what it feels like to be in this moment; to stand in solidarity with victims of human trafficking consumed with fear and pain.

We pray you will use us in some way to help end this human tragedy.

Lord we have faith that your presence, your love, and your spiritual embrace will always be with the victims of human trafficking.

Lord God, heavenly King, almighty God and Father, hear our prayer.

Amen.

Today is the Feast of the Epiphany

O God, by the leading of a star you manifested your only Son to the peoples of the earth: Lead us, who know you now by faith, to your presence, where we may see your glory face to face; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Led-Lay Congregations Network

Are you a leader in a lay-led congregation? Join the conversation, share your wisdom, learn from others.

January 21, 2023 meeting description:

We will be talking about the priest companion model of parish leadership.

A priest companion model was tested by St. Aidan's Ann Arbor in the Advent to Easter seasons of 2021-22. This model created a position that was more than traditional supply but not as extensive as an interim position. This position allowed the congregation (which had been in an extended search process) to share in the Eucharist twice a month, and to have several educational and pastoral support opportunities that would have been beyond the capacity of the lay leadership to provide. This model was very successful, providing a welcome respite for lay leadership during a time when finding permanent clergy was proving to be very difficult. Since that time St. Aidan's has called a permanent part-time vicar.

See the network page for all of the information.

Episcopal Youth Event 2023

EYE 2023 will be July 4-8, 2023, at the University of Maryland - College Park, and registration will be opening January 6 and running through March 17, unless capacity (1450 people) is met before that date.

There are many questions circulating right now regarding the upcoming Episcopal Youth Event 2023 (EYE23) taking place this summer. We hope the information provided will be helpful for those who will be either Diocesan Registrars and/or adult chaperones for their respective delegations. Please note that while diocesan delegations are still fairly common, it is possible to send delegations from a congregation or other local group. Please check with your local diocesan office/bishop’s staff to see what the plan is within your diocese/region.

If you have further questions regarding EYE23, you may contact the EYE23 Coordination Team at eye@episcopalchurch.org. Ashley Graham-Wilcox is serving as the EYE23 Event Coordinator.

A Celebration of Women Clergy

Episcopal Women's Ministries

Diocese of Indianapolis

Post-event press release

December 8, 2023

On Saturday, November 12, St. Timothy's, Indianapolis, the Diocese of Indianapolis

Episcopal Women's Ministries, and the Chaplains to Retired Clergy hosted A Celebration of Women Clergy in honor of the 45th anniversary of the ordination of the Reverend Jackie Means, the first woman regularly ordained in the Episcopal Church.  Her ordination marked the beginning of the ordination of women in the Episcopal Church.  Many who followed in her footsteps and now serve in this diocese were present, joining the procession that opened the service. Diocesan Bishop Jennifer Baskerville-Burrows presided and retired Bishop Cate Waynick preached at the service of Holy Eucharist.  Members of the Episcopal Women's Ministries and Chaplains to Retired Clergy presented the Reverend Jackie Means with a red stole made by the Reverend Tom Honderich.  Scripture readings were chosen to reflect the role and impact historically of women of faith. Organ music was provided by Charles Manning, who had played at Mother Jackie's ordination.  The service was followed by a lunch in the Saint Timothy's parish hall. Our grateful thanks goes to St. Timothy’s for hosting this event and to all the people who participated and who made this celebration such a success.

Networking Conversations

Province V's work in the world is to "Connect. Network. Support." Networks exist for people to gather around areas of interest and share resources with each other. Sometimes, networks host webinars to share information and sometimes they develop new resources to support leaders in their local contexts.

There are a number of networks meeting regularly and several that are just getting organized. Most network meetings last about 60 minutes. See their webpages or email their contact for more information.

Deep Green Faith Presents: Sharing in the Eucharist's Feast of Creation

Thursday, January 26th at 7:30 ET/ 6:30 CT

The Eucharist, a gospel sacrament and central feature of life in the Christian church, also holds “green” significance for our faith practice today. But it’s a coloring of the sacramental rite we may not often recognize. This webinar aims to highlight those less-noticed features of classic eucharistic liturgy that already embody a vital, transformational vision of engagement with the fullness of God’s creation. In this light the eucharistic feast enacts not only the believer’s communion with God in Christ, but also the inherently ecological principle of interchange among human worshippers and with every other member of God’s created order.
