JLL’s new patient consumer survey reveals that while cost is a large consideration, convenience and comfort factors must not be ignored
While cost is important to patients when choosing a healthcare provider, location and convenience also rank highly in the decision-making process, according to JLL’s Healthcare Patient Consumer Survey. Location and convenience affect the care experience, which, along with the quality of service provided and the comfort of the facility, drive positive experiences that lead patients to return to a particular provider.
More than 80% of responders evaluating primary and preventative or specialist care noted whether a provider or hospital accepts their insurance as one of the top five factors considered when deciding to seek care. Location and proximity ranked as the second-most-likely factor for all types of care, aside from outpatient behavioral health, for which it ranked third.

Beyond the expansive range of high-performance coated fabrics, this collection also includes two privacy curtains and a woven texture; all of which are bleach-solution cleanable.
The Best of NeoCon 2023 Gold Award winner for Healthcare Textiles was lauded by the jurors, who commented, “I love the grid pattern (Watercolor Grid). I like the hybrid construction of the coated fabrics that offset the high cost of 100% silicone products. I love the birch bark feel (Nishiki 2.0) and the soothing colors. I love the Maine stones (Riverstone). Wellness Essentials is a beautiful collection!”
All non-woven products in the Wellness Essentials collection are CFFA-HC-201 certified, representing a significant difference and advantage that allows end users, designers and specifiers to easily identify products that have been designed specifically for healthcare. “I enjoy the beautiful simple patterns of the collection. by Sara Marberry — It’s no secret that digital technologies such as smartphones, social networks, and internet applications are changing how we monitor our health and access information. As we imagine the hospital of the future, is it truly going to be one without walls?
I don’t think so. But this convergence of people, information, technology, and connectivity is already improving healthcare and health outcomes, making healthcare delivery more efficient and cost-effective. So, it’s not going away. And it will continue to evolve as new digital technologies are introduced.
Connecting with patients
What does this mean for healthcare facility design? Well, for starters, we’ll need new kinds of spaces to support digital technology and enable clinicians to connect with patients in meaningful ways. Workspaces need to be designed for both remote and in-person care.

Meanwhile, the EPA has announced expected new emissions rules that will result in EVs attaining a roughly 60% market share of all vehicles by the same year. To power those, the U.S. will need 700,000 Level-2 chargers and 70,000 Level-3 chargers. That’s an 8-fold increase in the country’s EV charging infrastructure. In just 7 years.
