Issue 30 | November 17, 2021
Dear Faculty, Trainees, and Staff:

It is with great pride and excitement that I call our attention to our very own Dr. Deanna Kelly, who was selected as 1 of only 8 for the newly established MPower Professor between University of Maryland, Baltimore and University of Maryland, College Park! (See story below for details). Dr. Kelly’s selfless, creative energy and scientific genius has yet again resulted in a win-win outcome, leading to growth and opportunity for even more faculty and students. She is an example of how to do it right! Thank you, Dee!

As the Thanksgiving Holiday approaches, I want to express my sincere thanks to our entire Department. You have worked long hours -- requiring endurance and determination -- while providing clinical care to those most in need, teaching to ensure a strong and safe learning environment, and leading our scientific efforts to learn and contribute to our field. Over the Thanksgiving holiday, I ask everyone to breathe deeply, relax, and enjoy your time with those closest to you. While there has been much suffering and loss over the past 18 months, there is also much to be thankful for and it is important to take a few minutes to reflect on these moments of gratitude.

“Gratitude turns what we have into enough.”

Sincerely,
Jill A. RachBeisel, MD
