The 2020 Annual Meeting is quickly approaching! If you are presenting at the meeting, please remember that all talks and poster presentations must be submitted by the appropriate deadline (see details below). To assist in preparing your presentation, the Psychonomic Society has provided the following resources:

Submission Deadlines for Presentations
In an effort to increase accessibility, it is the Society's aim to caption as many recordings as possible. Submission deadlines for your recorded talks and poster presentations have been set to allow the Society time to caption your recording for you, or to allow you to provide your own captions.
October 16 or October 28
All poster presentations submitted by October 16 will be machine captioned by the Psychonomic Society. If you would like more time to prepare your presentation, you may submit by October 28, but you will be asked to caption your own recording (if applicable). All posters MUST be submitted by October 28 to be included in the 2020 program. Click here for instructions on how to prepare, record, and caption your presentation (if applicable).
Poster presentations will be available for on demand viewing beginning November 5, 2020.
October 23 or November 2
All talks that are prerecorded and submitted by October 23 will be human captioned by the Psychonomic Society. If you would like more time to prepare your talk, you may submit by November 2, but you will be asked to caption your own recording. All talks MUST be prerecorded and submitted by November 2 to be included in the 2020 program. Click here for instructions on how to prepare, record, and caption your talk.

Race is seldom considered in cognitive psychology research. Aside from an explosion of work on the cross-race effect during the heyday of eyewitness memory research, the Psychonomic Society rarely has more than a handful of abstracts that mention race.
This year, the Psychonomic Society's 2020 Annual Meeting will feature a special symposium, " Seeing Race in Cognitive Psychology." Co-chaired by Angela Gutchess (Brandeis University, USA) and Sarah E. Gaither (Duke University, USA), this symposium will illustrate ways in which acknowledging race in our methods is highly relevant to the study of human cognition. Read the full description.
"Seeing Race in Cognitive Psychology" will take place on Friday, November 20, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM EST. A Town Hall on Racism is also in development (more details to come). Make sure you have registered for the annual meeting and plan to attend!

In a recent set of experiments, Lemaire and colleagues investigated the numeric cognition of chicks. An interesting outcome was that female and male chicks use information about quantity differently depending on the objects' familiarity. The findings are linked to social structures before domestication. Read the article.
