Responses Requested by December 31, 2021
The Society is committed to continuing to host its annual meeting. The 2022 Annual Meeting is currently scheduled for November 17-20, 2022, at the Sheraton Boston Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Attendees will also have the option to tune in virtually if they prefer.

We recognize that in-person and virtual meeting formats both come with their own sets of benefits and limitations. As we seek to adapt our conference to best meet the needs of our members, we ask you to take a few minutes to complete our Annual Meeting Survey. The survey should take about 3-8 minutes, with questions adapting based on whether or not you attended the 2021 Annual Meeting.

Members of the Society who are considering making additional year-end charitable contributions are encouraged to donate to the SPARK Society, J. Frank Yates Student Conference Award, and PS General Fund, and other causes and organizations dedicated to fighting racism and increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the field of cognitive psychology and within our societies at large.

Call for Proposals:
2022 Collaborative Symposium
Submission Deadline: December 31, 2021
The Psychonomic Society invites proposals to fund a collaborative symposium between the Psychonomic Society and the European Society for Cognitive Psychology (ESCoP). The collaborative symposium will be held in conjunction with the 22nd meeting of ESCoP in Lille, France, from August 29 – September 1, 2022. 

Purpose
This program, created in 2015, is an initiative of the Psychonomic Society's international outreach as set forth in the Society's strategic plan. The program aims to strengthen the communication and collaboration between the Society and other international societies representing the field of experimental and cognitive psychology. This is done through an annual, cutting-edge topical symposium held at another international society’s regular annual meeting. One international society will be chosen each year for this program.

Mechanism of Support
Each year a Call for Proposals for a Collaborative Symposium will be opened in collaboration with a partnering international society. The organizer of the symposium must be a current member of the Psychonomic Society. The organizer will receive up to $5,000 USD for expenses relating to the collaborative symposium. The organizer decides what expenses will be covered, but generally the support is used for airfare and/or hotels. Conference registration fees are usually covered by the symposium participants.

Seminar Description
Individual differences in the speed of information processing are consistently related to individual differences in cognitive abilities. It is an open debate whether these associations can be explained in terms of individual differences in some brain-wide property affecting a large number of cognitive processes, or whether these advantages in processing speed reflect advantages in specific cognitive processes such as memory processes, attentional control, or evidence accumulation. I will demonstrate how mathematical models and electrophysiological approaches can be used to shed some light on these questions by decomposing the time-course of information processing and relating process parameters to cognitive abilities.... Nomination Deadline: January 31, 2022
The Psychonomic Society is seeking nominations for Secretary. The new secretary will begin their term on January 1, 2023, but will shadow the current secretary during 2022.

The PS Secretary plays an essential role in the success of the society by organizing the conference and program, facilitating and recording board votes, and overseeing the Governing Board Chair election. Secretarial duties require approximately 350 hours a year, with a heavy concentration of hours used in the late spring and summer months, when abstracts are reviewed and the annual meeting program is developed... Stipend. $12,000 USD per annum, plus expenses, including travel and lodging for Governing Board meetings and the annual meeting.

Term. The Governing Board recommends a three-year commitment, with a potential for a one-to-three-year extension.

Nomination Deadline: February 15, 2022
Nominations are being sought for the position of Editor-in-Chief for Learning & Behavior (L&B). The new Editor will begin accepting manuscripts on January 1, 2023.

Our mission is to ensure an inclusive selection process and generate a list of qualified potential editors from a comprehensive set of nominations. We ask you to recommend individual(s) whom you deem capable and inclined to accept the position.

In a single PDF document, please send the following via email to Verner Bingman, Chair of the L&B Editor Search Committee:  

  • A brief message expressing interest in the editorship
  • The nominee’s current curriculum vitae
  • Names and email addresses of three referees who could speak to the nominee’s qualifications for the position. [Note that nominees and self-nominees identified through this initial process are not obligated to follow through and accept the editorship.] 

In late February/early March, the Search Committee will select a short list from among the nominees, invite those individuals to provide additional information (in particular, a statement of their vision for L&B), and solicit input from their referees.

If there were talks or posters you wanted to see but had to miss, or if you weren't able to join us for the conference but would like to catch up on the talks and posters, you may now do so. The library of recorded talks from the 2021 program will be available for free, on-demand viewing on the PS Virtual Meeting Platform through February 7, 2022.
