Nominations Deadline: Feb 15, 2023

Nominations are being sought for the position of Editors-in-Chief of three Psychonomic Society journals: Behavior Research MethodsMemory & Cognition, and Psychonomic Bulletin & Review. These new Editors-in-Chief will begin accepting manuscripts on January 1, 2024.


Nominations are now being solicited and will be considered until February 15, 2023. Self-nominations are welcome and encouraged.

Graduate Conference Awards are given annually to graduate student members of the Society who will present their research at the 2022 Annual Meeting, scheduled for November 17-20 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, and online. Award recipients are recognized during the meeting and receive a competitive $1,000 USD award.

Influence of Eating Together on Brain Activation and Hedonic Evaluation in Response to Foods

Our expectations and decisions change when eating with others or alone. Participants gave fewer positive ratings of unhealthy food if consumed alone and even less for unhealthy foods. These factors also led to differential activations in regions of the insula. Read this paper.

Look over there! We point to communicate with others, and so do nonhumans. This review covers 32 years of research on the topic. Various research questions are organized as they relate to 1) evolutionary adaptiveness and phylogenetic differences, and 2) experiential and temperamental processes. Read this paper.

How Well Do Ordinary Americans Forecast the Growth of COVID-19?

This paper discusses research about forecasts on the spread of COVID-19. When information was presented in tables, participants gave more accurate forecasts than when information was presented in figures. But participants made forecasts with higher confidence when shown figures. Read this paper.
