Juneteenth Pop-Up Exhibition Call for Artists

The Public Art Program seeks existing 2 Dimensional and 3 Dimensional works of art for a Juneteenth exhibition at Gallery One's Satellite Pop Up Space, on the 8th Floor of Albuquerque City Hall. The exhibit will run June 12 - July 18, 2025.

The juried works will be reviewed by an Art Selection Committee to determine if any of the works will be purchased to become part of the City of Albuquerque's permanent Public Art Collection.

The Committee seeks New Mexican artists who can produce artwork suitable for the Juneteenth Pop Up Exhibition that examines the question of erasure or invisibility, based on Ralph Ellison's award-winning novel "Invisible Man." Written in 1952 and still relevant today, it explores the psychological and social effects of racism on a nameless Black man in 20th century America.

Call for Property Owners: Route 66 Past, Present, and Future Murals with APS Creative Campus Collective

In celebration of the upcoming Route 66 Centennial, the Metropolitan Redevelopment Agency (MRA) is partnering with Creative Campus Collective - Albuquerque Public Schools on an exciting community mural project.

Public Art plays a powerful role in telling our city's story, and these murals will help set the stage for the City's Route 66 Centennial Celebration. As part of this initiative, the MRA is investing in the revitalization of Central Avenue by supporting murals that honor the rich art, history, and culture along and around the iconic Route 66 corridor.

Six properties along Route 66 will be selected to receive a mural designed by Creative Campus Collective. Selected property owners must paint the wall white and choose from a collection of pre-approved mural designs (no alterations allowed).
