Notice of Proposed Rulemaking posted
The public charge Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) was posted today, October 5, for public inspection. This is the step before its actual publication in the Federal Register and the comment period starts. The NPRM will be published on Wednesday, October 10 and the comment period will begin that same day.

CFRA has been actively following the public charge rule since it was posted on the DHS website and have joined over 1,100 other organizations in signing onto an opposition statement from Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP).

National Immigration Law Center (NILC) has a great resource on how to talk to immigrant families and how this may apply to them. NILC and CLASP partnered to launch a website specifically for public charge news with resources and how to take action.
