SPH Alumni, Nishita Matangi Receives Two IE Film Festival Awards for her Documentary, BERDOO


Nishita Matangi, PhD(c), MPH, an SPH alumna, created the award-winning documentary BERDOO Film to shatter negative stereotypes about San Bernardino and amplify the resilient voices of the community grappling with chronic absenteeism. Through powerful storytelling that resonated deeply, earning prestigious awards like the Audience Award and Creative Corps Award at the Inland Empire Film Festival, Nishita's journey exemplifies the transformative impact of using media to foster understanding, drive positive change in public health, and uplift communities.

For over 13 years of dedicated service, we bid a fond farewell to Olukemi (Kemi) Adeoye, BDS, MPH, CFRE, Director of Major Gifts - Education at Loma Linda University. Olukemi has been an invaluable member of our philanthropy team, playing a crucial role in securing major gifts that have advanced the School of Public Health's (SPH) mission and impact.


Throughout her tenure, Olukemi has been a passionate advocate for the SPH, forging meaningful connections with donors who share our commitment to promoting health, preventing disease, and achieving health equity. Her expertise in cultivating philanthropic partnerships has enabled transformative support for our academic programs, research initiatives, and community outreach efforts.


Olukemi's professionalism, dedication, and warm personality have endeared her to colleagues and supporters alike. Her contributions have left an indelible mark on the SPH, and her legacy will continue to shape our work for years to come.

Grace Castillo-Molina Graduates with Doctoral Degree in Prague Czech Republic


Grace Castillo-Molina, PhD, MAFR, faculty member at the Center for Nutrition, Healthy Lifestyle, and Disease Prevention at the LLUSPH, recently completed her Doctoral Program at LIGS University. The Graduation Ceremony took place on April 12, 2024, at the Kaiserstein Palace in Prague, Czech Republic.

LLUSPH IS SEEKING VOLUNTEERS

The School of Public Health is hosting our annual Careers in Public Health event on Sunday, June 23, 2024, and we are seeking SPH alumni to assist in volunteering during the event. As a volunteer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running of the event.


Your responsibilities may include:


  • Assisting with registration and providing a warm welcome to guests
  • Offering directional guidance and answering attendee inquiries
  • Aiding in the setup and breakdown of the event space
  • Supporting our team with any other tasks that arise during the day


To sign up, please visit our volunteer sign-up sheet and select your preferred 2-3 hour shift between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Please note that this opportunity is open to all alumni.
