Dear neighbor,

As we navigate through this challenging public health emergency together, I know we all are looking forward to seeing the other side of it. As Vice Chair of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG), I’m working with elected officials from across the region to continue fighting for the federal resources we need to protect and stabilize our region during this pandemic. This week, we called on Congress for additional federal funding to help state and local governments support our residents and our local economies. This public health emergency has put an enormous strain on so many parts of our city, and additional federal funding will ease pressure on everyday residents trying to survive in our city.
STAY-AT-HOME ORDER EXTENDED
& FACE COVERING POLICY
Mayor Bowser extended DC's stay-at-home order until June 8 th. Please continue to stay home to help slow the coronavirus spread. The order also requires residents engaging in essential work or operations of a nonessential business, while in other people's presence, to wear a face covering. You will also need a mask while on essential travel if social distancing isn't possible.

This requirement does not apply to:
  • children under the age of nine;
  • residents exercising outdoors;
  • people experiencing homelessness; and
  • those who cannot wear a mask or face covering because of a disability or unable to remove it without assistance.

SNAP BENEFITS
DC Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients can order groceries online using their EBT card. Families can visit Amazon, Amazon Fresh, and Amazon Pantry . This is an important change to help protect residents who use SNAP.
UPDATE ON WASHINGTON METROPOLITAN AREA TRANSIT AUTHORITY
