January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. Over 14,000 women received a diagnosis last year, according to the National Cancer Institute which makes increased screening and prevention steps so important. Almost all cases of cervical cancer are caused by Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection. Vaccination for the HPV infection and regular Pap tests are both key prevention steps.

Radon Information

January is Radon Action Month. Did you know radon is the #1 cause of lung cancer among non-smokers? Radon is a radioactive, colorless, odorless gas that occurs naturally in the soil, and can enter your home through cracks in the foundation. Make sure your house is tested for radon. Public Health is offering radon test kits at a reduced price during the month of January. Click here for more information.
