** LIVE FIRE TRAINING**
CAMARILLO, Calif. – The  Ventura County Fire Department , in cooperation with  Ventura County Air Pollution Control District (VCAPCD)  and the  California Department of Forestry (CAL FIRE) is proceeding with a live fire training burn in Fillmore on Thursday, June 04, 2020, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Fillmore residents may notice smoke and helicopter traffic in the area.

The controlled training burn will involve the ignition of grass/brush as firefighters practice wildfire suppression techniques. Control lines will be established with firefighting resources on scene throughout the duration of the burn to provide containment within this area.

The VCAPCD has approved the 2.8 acre site, pending favorable weather conditions.

Controlled training burns, like this one, provide increased protection against wildfires through the removal of vegetation. They also provide essential training by giving firefighters the opportunity to work with live fire.
