Dear neighbors,

Please join me on Monday, September 21st at a public presentation for the proposed redevelopment of 2720 N. Clark, currently The Edge Bar and Grill.  Per my direction, the developer will present their plans and answer any questions you may have regarding this proposal.

The applicant plans a small private school for up to 150 children on the second floor of the proposed building. The first floor would contain approximately 9,000 square feet of ground-level retail and five (5) parking stalls.

The property is zoned as a B1-2 Neighborhood Shopping District. The City of Chicago Zoning Ordinance requires a "special use" for the school. No other zoning relief is requested.

No approvals have been granted for this project.  This meeting is being held as part of an open and transparent approval process. Click here for more information.

Traffic Safety Enhancements

W hen neighbors report traffic safety issues to the 43rd Ward office, we alert the Department of Transportation to ensure engineers examine the issue.

Thanks to neighbors who contacted us, CDOT is implementing the following modifications.

LaSalle Drive and Lake Shore Drive

Residents report that there is confusion as to the lane utilization of the eastbound lanes of LaSalle Drive leading to southbound Lake Shore Drive.

CDOT will be installing new signs indicating which lanes continue straight and which are designated for turning. CDOT also recommended installing guide arrows and guide line pavement markings, which we will be funding through the Aldermanic Menu Fund.

Fullerton Parkway and Cannon Drive

CDOT will install a 'Turning Vehicles Yield to Pedestrians' sign on the westbound approach of Fullerton and Cannon. Installation of this sign will give approaching vehicles advance warning of the possibility of crossing pedestrians.

Halsted Street and Willow Street

In response to residents reports that the timing of the traffic signal at the intersection of Halsted and Willow was leading to traffic congestion, CDOT reset the traffic signal controller to improve traffic flow.

Thank you to all who continue contact my office to report issues of concern. We're very proud to be able to work together to make improvements in our Ward.
