Puente at Chabot Celebrates 40 Years
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Puente Project at Chabot College! Since 1981, Puente has been "Bridging Classrooms & Community" at Chabot College. Puente’s mission is to increase the number of underrepresented students at four-year universities, support students to earn college degrees, and inspire them to return to the community as leaders. Since its birth at Chabot College, the Puente Project has expanded and is now at 7 middle schools, 36 high schools, and 65 community colleges throughout the state, as well as in Texas and Washington.
To help celebrate Puente's 40th anniversary, Alameda County District 2 Supervisor, Richard Valle made a special visit to Chabot College. Supervisor Valle not only served as a guest speaker and inspired students but also presented a $10,000 donation for Puente Project scholarships. Thank you, Supervisor Valle!
In the past 10 years, Chabot Puente has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to outstanding students who are either transferring to a university or continuing their education at Chabot. Our goal this year is to raise $40,000 in honor of Puente’s 40th anniversary. Donate today to support the Puente Project.
