This month, we are highlighting our upcoming events. We hope you'll be able to attend at least one, but we hope to see you at more than one. 😁 

Mid-Autumn Nature Walk 

In honor of Mid-Autumn Festival, the Habitat Authority is partnering with the Rowland Heights Chinese Association to host a nature walk 👣 at Powder Canyon on Sunday, September 15, at 8:00 AM. The walk starts at 8:30 AM. The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival is a harvest festival celebrated in Asian cultures. A Mandarin and Cantonese translator will also be present.

All are welcome, and we hope you will join us!

Habitat Authority's 30 Year Anniversary Event

The Habitat Authority is celebrating its 30th anniversary, and we invite all who love and cherish these hills to join us on Saturday, September 21, 2024. There will be a short presentation on the history 📜 of the Puente Hills Preserve, and recipients who have been long-time supporters of the Habitat Authority will be recognized. Habitat Authority's Open House

Join us for our Open House on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 6–8 p.m. at the Whittier Community Center, 7630 Washington Ave, Whittier. A short presentation will start at 6:30 p.m., and there will be an opportunity to mingle and speak with our volunteers, rangers, and staff members one-on-one 😀. Click here to RSVP.

Answer to last month's newsletter poll question: "In the spirit of celebrating owls this month, have you seen these owl species on the Preserve?" 35.5% reported seeing a Great Horn Owl, 19.4% reported seeing a Barn Owl, 19.4% reported seeing a Burrowing Owl, and 25.8% have yet to spot an owl on the Puente Hills Preserve.

The Habitat Authority is a local government agency, and is qualified to accept tax-deductible charitable donations including monetary and real property. Donations such as these contribute to the purpose of the agency and provide tax benefits for the giver.
