All-Star Teaching Lineup for Upcoming Courses
Now crafted and redesigned specifically for remote learning, The Art Effect's second round of spring courses start next week! Back by popular demand, Lauren Hollick is offering up a new round of Drawing & Painting (11-14) . New courses for teens and adults begin April 23. Digital Photography will be taught by Spark Studios's Paul Thomspon , Rick Price will be teaching Painting Across Mediums , and in May The Artist's Craft: Building Your Personal Practice begins, taught by Todd Poteet , who thanks to this remote structure will be able to join The Art Effect again for this exclusive class.
The Art Effect is providing sanitized art supplies and equipment for our students in need of materials and technology to participate in their classes. Due to the online critique structure and format, class sizes will remain small. To find out more about these upcoming classes, check the courses section on The Art Effect's website or subscribe to our text alert system to get updates and discount offers.
In response to the COVID-19 crisis, The Art Effect is finding ways to support individuals and businesses seeking assistance as we all adapt to a digital world. Paul Thompson, Spark Studios Program Coordinator and media tech extraordinaire, created Zoom tutorials for our teaching artists, which we are happy to share with everyone as we all adapt to a Zoom lifestyle. Find them on The Art Effect's YouTube channel .
We are also offering media production, content creation, and educational consulting services to nonprofits, schools, colleges/universities, and businesses looking for help shifting to online working and learning. Click here for more information about what that entails.

New Faces
We are happy to announce that Denise Martin has joined our staff as The Art Effect's new Director of Finance and Administration . Formerly the Director of Finance and Administration at CPCA and a Business Manager at the Mediation Center in Poughkeepsie, Denise has a fine understanding of nonprofit finance and is currently guiding us through the unprecedented financial ramifications of the COVID-19 crisis.
The Board of Directors at The Art Effect has also been growing and changing.
Please join us as we welcome two new board members this month, Dr. Beth Thomas , Art Department Chair and Music Department Interim Chair at SUNY New Paltz, and Paul Hesse , Dutchess community development coordinator for the City of Poughkeepsie.
And we are happy to announce that Dean Temple has shifted into The Art Effect's Board President position, while Gaye Mallet has stepped back into the role of Board Chair and Shailee Johnson is now the Vice-Chair.

The Art Effect: Show and Tell
In Memoriam: Dr. Mary Louise Van Winkle
We are saddened by the passing of Dr. Mary Louise Van Winkle this past month. A former Mill Street Loft board member and ardent supporter of The Art Effect, she had a wealth of knowledge and was happy to share her insights and information about what it was like to be part of an era that saw women rising into strong leadership positions. Just recently she helped The Art Effect secure three years of funding for Reel Exposure from Vassar Brothers Institute. We will be forever grateful for her generous guidance and support.
