The amazing people behind the scenes...
Wondering where all the great art is coming from?
See Spot create
For the past two summers, Gales Creek Campers have had a very special creative arts experience. Families may have gotten a glimpse of this because most campers went home with at least one unique masterpiece--and sometimes four or five!

You can thank the incomparable Marion "Spot" McMuldren for this. Spot is a working artist with an enormous passion for sharing the power of art with the next generation.

From her top-secret techniques to her wildly unexpected materials, Spot brings overwhelming creativity to every project she devises.
Not only has Spot designed all the art projects our campers have done in the past two years, she has also procured nearly all the materials and supplies--culled from her diverse connections across the world. On top of all that, she has also recruited her own army of volunteer artists to help out!

Thanks also to her amazing artists: Terra, Michelle, Noelle, Hector, Margaret, Mary D., the other Mary D., Carol, Cynthia, Bob, Robin, and Jackie.

Few people realize it but Spot works nearly year-around on collecting, experimenting, and perfecting her plans for Gales Creek Campers. She's one-of-a-kind, and GCC has been lucky to have her.
Need inspiration? Meet the Junction City Lions Club and their campers!
Lions Clubs across Oregon and SW Washington really look out for our campers. From volunteering at camp, sponsoring campers, and even helping with transportation for families, the Lions Clubs are instrumental in making diabetes camp possible.

To say Gales Creek Camp appreciates Lions Club partnerships is a vast understatement.

Among the many clubs that support camp, several stand out, and among those, the Junction City Lions Club is the leader. They hold the year-after-year record for sponsoring campers, sending anywhere from six to nine campers to GCC each year. This is impressive enough, but what we find most amazing is that they know and connect with their campers personally. In fact, each year they invite all the families of kids with type 1 in their community to dinner.
At this dinner, the campers are invited to stand up and say a few words about GCC--and at this year's dinner the campers certainly did camp proud. While GCC can't necessarily take credit for their poise and confidence, to a camper each was articulate and inspiring. Maybe that's just the effect camp has on kids--and maybe that's the point.

Thanks to Junction City Lions for all the things you do for camp, including sponsoring these campers, sending a crew to Camp Cleanup Day each, and buying art supplies for Spot! You are truly a gift to our world.
Icons of Camp
While these ladies need no introduction, they are Mish, Bubbah, Kona, and Lobos. Combined, they have about 120 years of experience at Gales Creek Camp. Wow! Few can imagine Gales Creek Camp without them. More likely GCC is what it is today specifically because of them. Their legacy is in the thousands of kids they've kept safe, educated, inspired, and made laugh until their sides hurt.
Cuda the Cat, at it again...

The legend of Cuda continues. This year, in addition to her unbelievable hand-crafted post cards, quilts began arriving at camp, made especially for campers who deserved something special this year.

Who knows what she'll be up to next year!
