Dear Pullman Scholars and Alumni,
I am honored to introduce you to the George M. Pullman Educational Foundation’s 75th Class of Pullman Scholars. The 75th Class of Pullman Scholars represents 17 high schools across Cook County and is among the best and brightest across a highly competitive field of applicants. Selected from 506 initial applicants, these 24 new scholars collectively achieved an impressive 3.92 unweighted grade point average in high school and demonstrated diverse and active participation in clubs, sports, employment, volunteerism, and other extracurricular activities. 55% of the new scholar class is recognized as the first in their families to attend college.
This new class also marks a tremendous milestone for the Pullman Educational Foundation as a significant and sustained resource for college affordability and student success. For 75 years of ever-expanding impact, the Pullman Educational Foundation has supported Chicago-area students on their paths to meaningful success. Nearly 12,000 individuals have received Pullman Foundation Scholarships—many the first in their families to attend college. Scholars from every decade have gone on to build (and continue to build) economic strength and stability that is proving transformational for their families and communities. This 75th Class joins the long line of fellow Pullman Scholars who will also make their mark on the world for generations to come.
Thank you to our Pullman Scholar Alumni Selection Committee members who performed essential work in the selection process by reading essays and conducting interviews to help weigh the applicants’ merits. I wish the Pullman Scholar community a festive holiday season and a joyous new year.
