Dear Pullman Educational Foundation Community,
As we celebrate 75 years of empowering exceptional students to achieve their college dreams, we are deep in the process of selecting our newest class of Pullman Scholars. This year, we received an impressive 573 applications from high school seniors across Cook County, reflecting a growing interest in our program. Our dedicated Pullman Alumni Scholar Selection Committee, composed of 114 former Pullman Scholars from nearly every decade of the Foundation’s history, is thoughtfully reviewing essays and conducting interviews to determine our finalists.
The commitment of our alumni volunteers is truly invaluable and stands as a testament to our success. Their efforts uphold the Foundation’s rigorous and effective selection process, which over the last several years has contributed to a remarkable average scholar GPA of 3.5 and a 97% college graduation rate, with 85% finishing within four years or less – more than double the national average of 41%.
Beyond financial support, the Foundation remains steadfast in equipping our scholars with essential resources for academic and professional success. Through our Scholar Success Seminars, we provide tailored programming on topics such as building strong credit, maximizing internship and study abroad opportunities, prioritizing mental health, and preparing for life after college. Many of these sessions are led by alumni who share their expertise, experiences, and insights to guide the next generation of scholars.
At the George M. Pullman Educational Foundation, we know that supporting students goes beyond funding—it requires mentorship, guidance, and innovation. As we continue evolving to meet scholars' needs, we deeply appreciate your role in sustaining the Pullman Scholar legacy. Whether as an alumni volunteer, mentor, donor, or advocate, your support makes a lasting impact.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we are shaping futures and strengthening communities—one scholar at a time.
With Gratitude
