LETTER FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Greetings Pullman Scholar and Alumni Community,

On behalf of the Foundation, I send heartfelt congratulations to the 2020 cohort of

graduating Pullman Scholars! With the help of the Pullman Educational Foundation,

this graduating class succeeded in earning their degrees and are ready to start their

careers. Please join me in celebrating their accomplishments and welcoming them as

new Pullman Alumni.

The average cumulative GPA of the senior class is an impressive 3.59. 80% of seniors

report that they are graduating debt-free. The average student loan debt among the

remaining graduating scholars is $3,703, which equates to just 10% of the student debt

national average of over $37,338. Combined with year-round programs and other

supports, Pullman Scholarships create an immediate impact on scholars’ ability to

embark on the next phase of their college and career plans without the stress of carrying

a significant financial burden with them.

Every day - and every year - Pullman Scholars show us what forms of support make a

transformational difference in their lives: straightforward financial awards they can

depend on, relevant seminars and informational resources, a sense of community and

connection, and our unwavering belief in them. The rest - hard work, creativity, tenacity,

courage, and confidence - is within them. It is truly a gift to know precisely how to help

these remarkable and talented scholars with their journey.

We deeply appreciate the Pullman Alumni Scholar Selection Committee for their vital

work in this year’s application process to help select our 75th Class of new Pullman

Scholars. We will announce the new scholars’ names and respective attending

institutions in the weeks ahead.

Wishing you all a wonderful summer full of sun and fun!

We wish our 23 Pullman Scholar graduates all the best as they head out to pursue their dreams after college. Here are a few graduate highlights:

“I always look forward to the yearly Symposium to gain valuable business and life skills from the diverse range of accomplished alumni. The event is an inspiring opportunity to learn, network, and strengthen relationships with the Pullman community.”

Jackie Jones, University of California, Berkeley ’27.

“I especially found the managing finances portion of the symposium invaluable because that is one of my biggest priorities as a college student. The symposium took my knowledge to a new level by discussing how mortgages and net interest rates work, as these items will be of importance to me in the future.”

Mohammed Daniel, University of Illinois at Chicago ’27.
