Dear Pullman Educational Foundation Community,

I am excited to introduce myself to you as the George M. Pullman Educational Foundation’s new Executive Director. With just a few weeks in the position, I already had the great privilege of meeting many Pullman Scholars and participating in the 7th Annual Pullman Scholar Symposium that returned as an in-person event after two years. The energy and enthusiasm of the scholars, combined with the expertise of the Symposium presenters, made for an outstanding day of learning, networking, and community building.

As I draw inspiration from the diverse and talented class of Pullman Scholars, I look forward to engaging the broad community of Alumni and supporters that embody the significant legacy of the George M. Pullman Educational Foundation. I hope you will join us in strengthening our work of setting the dream of college in motion and keeping it on track for so many outstanding young people.

APPLY FOR THE PULLMAN SCHOLAR SELECTION COMMITTEE. We will send an email invitation to Pullman Alumni in February to help review and interview scholar applicants over Spring 2023.

PROMOTE THE PULLMAN SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY TO YOUR NETWORK. Graduating high school seniors residing in Cook County, along with other eligibility requirements, are encouraged to apply. Applications open on November 1st and eligibility requirements and other information are available at www.pullmanfoundation.org/apply/.

104 Pullman Scholars are attending 44 different colleges and universities across the country for the upcoming 2022-2023 academic year. The Symposium included an orientation session for incoming scholars, professional networking advice and cover letter/resume tips for returning scholars, a combined session on essential financial literacy skills for college students, and some key lessons on modern business etiquette. The Pullman Scholar and Alumni Networking Reception was a wonderful opportunity to share stories and grow as a community.
