Program & Policy Updates

As Congress makes decisions about the federal budget, including proposals to cut or change Medicaid, Wisconsin's Department of Health Services has released a new analysis of the impact of federal cuts on WI Medicaid members and providers. We explain.

On April 22, the Wisconsin Senate voted to pass a bill that would expand postpartum Medicaid. The vote was almost unanimous (32-1) in favor of expansion, with a bi-partisan showing of force. It's not clear if the Assembly will take up the issue next. We explain.

Social Security Updates

The Social Security Administration, for the second time in 2 months, has changed its policy regarding collection of overpayments. SSA will recoup 50% of a monthly benefit in the case of an overpayment, not 100%. We explain.

May is an unusual payment month for SSI benefits. Since June 1 is a Sunday, SSI recipients will get two checks in May. We explain the payment schedule and review a new Executive Order that eliminates paper checks.
