Summer READING challenge:
Read as many books independently or with your family that you wish! Record these on the back of the book jacket that is included in your report card envelope. You may illustrate your favorite book on the front cover. Return the book cover template to your new Humanities teacher in August. Let’s see if we read enough books to display these covers around the walls of the entire school!
Ice cream sundae MATH challenge:
No more fingers, no more toes. Let us see what everyone knows! As you pass each level of facts, you will earn a part of an ice cream sundae. Upon returning to school in August, your new math teacher will quiz you on a one-minute time test for mastery. You must pass the minimum skill for your grade level, but feel free to learn more! You may keep track of your own progress or use the provided chart for help. In addition, using the pieces provided, complete your sundae on a piece of construction paper and return it to school the first week by giving it to your new math teacher. We will display these on our walls and show off all of your math mastery skills! In addition, you will be invited to join your peers and build your own ice cream sundae!
