Celebrating Success: SCC's Q2 Strategic Plan Progress Report

SCC has made significant strides in Q2 of its strategic plan! The efforts implemented during this quarter have resulted in notable successes, demonstrating the College's commitment to growth, improved communication, enhanced academic programs, and dedicated student support.

Let's explore the key achievements that have propelled SCC towards its goals.

Enrollment Growth:

One of the primary objectives of SCC is to achieve a student body of 7,500 by 2025. In this quarter, the College achieved an outstanding 18% enrollment growth in new students from Fall 2022 to Fall 2023. This substantial increase indicates a positive response to the College's strategic tactics focused on student recruitment and engagement.

Enhanced Educational Partnerships:

SCC prioritized strengthening educational partnerships by hiring a Director of Educational Partnerships and developing a new Dual Enrollment Application. Impressively, 87.5% of high school partners reported high satisfaction levels with the updated Dual Enrollment application, emphasizing the success of these initiatives.

Improved Student Communication:

Recognizing the importance of effective communication with students, SCC hired a Student Communication Coordinator to enhance and streamline communication processes. This appointment demonstrates the College's commitment to creating a conducive and informed learning environment for its students.

Modernized Online Presence:

A new website was launched by SCC, showcasing a modern and user-friendly interface. This revamp reflects the College's efforts to stay current and easily accessible to prospective students, current students, and the community at large.

Research & Development Focus:

SCC established the Office of Research & Development, underscoring the College's dedication to research and innovation. This development is pivotal in fostering academic growth and advancing the College's reputation for academic excellence.

Academic Program Innovations:

SCC streamlined its academic program proposal process by publishing a new form for New Certificate, Diploma, and Degree Program Proposals. This ensures a structured and efficient approach to evolving and introducing new academic offerings.

Student Support Initiatives:

SCC established a Cares Team, demonstrating a proactive approach to identifying and supporting students facing distress. This support system ensures that the College prioritizes the well-being and success of its student community.

Dedicated Student Success Team:

The hiring of two Success Coaches showcases SCC's commitment to empowering and guiding students towards success. These coaches will play a critical role in supporting students on their academic journey, further enhancing the student experience at SCC.

These notable successes in enrollment growth, educational partnerships, communication enhancement, and student support are key indicators of the College's commitment to academic excellence and fostering a conducive learning environment. As SCC continues its journey, these achievements serve as a strong foundation for future progress and success.

SCC Elevates Campus Security with $24,075 Body-Worn Camera Grant

SCC is pleased to announce the receipt of a significant grant, totaling $24,075, from the Body-Worn Camera (BWC) fund at the South Carolina Department of Public Safety. This award represents a pivotal step for the enhancement of safety measures on campus.

The grant will be utilized to provide SCC’s campus police officers with state-of-the-art BWC units, effectively replacing outdated models and ensuring optimal operational efficiency and safety.

The adoption of body-worn cameras (BWC) is not only in alignment with South Carolina state mandates but also stands as a reflection of SCC's dedication to accountability and transparency.

SCC Brand Updates | Campus Wide Changes

Over the next few months, the SCC Marketing Team will be visiting all campuses to make an inventory of “old logo” items and places that can be updated to the College's current branding.

They will be removing any collateral/material with the old logos and will work to replace them, as needed. We ask that we all partner together to make this process as easy as possible, making our campuses consistent in branding and materials! This creates a seamless transition between campuses for our students – which is why we are all here!

A few notes below.

  • If you are still using old logo business cards, please trash them and reorder. All instructions can be found on the home page of the MySCC Portal. You will order these directly from the vendor. Business cards with any of the old/previous SCC logos are no longer approved for use

  • Marketing is working on providing branding for the walls and hallways. Please remove any personal items that you do not want to be discarded by 10/31/23. (This does not apply to personal office space, only general, shared public areas)

  • Any materials that can be easily removed (brochures, banners, pendants, cards, pictures, etc.) will be removed during this process. We ask that you work with us and help keep old logos out of our public areas. This is to make sure that we are only utilizing the current brand and its assets

The Marketing Team is excited to be able to support all our campuses, students, faculty, and staff. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact SCC's Chief Marketing and Brand Strategy Manager, Savanna James.
