Message from the Founder
The changing season reminds us that, just as nature sheds what it no longer needs, we too are invited to release what weighs us down. Fall calls us to pause, to breathe, and to nurture our inner well-being—making room for gratitude, balance, and renewal.
This month at Wholistic Counseling PC, we are shining a light on Caregiver Support Month and World Kindness Day.
As we move through November, we also pause to honor Veterans Day.
To all who have served our country with courage and selflessness, we offer our deepest gratitude. Your sacrifices—seen and unseen—have protected freedoms many hold dear.
We are also delighted to spotlight our Community Partner: Trainer Page (TP), whose mission to support individuals struggling with anxiety and depression aligns beautifully with our own. Their heart for empowering others through wellness and resilience continues to inspire us.
And our Team Member Highlight this month shines on Lauren Matos, our dedicated Medical Biller. Her steady presence, warmth, and commitment behind the scenes allow our team to serve clients with clarity and care. We are so grateful for the light she brings to Wholistic Counseling PC.
It’s in those quiet, intentional moments that compassion takes root and grows, reminding us that healing—like autumn—is a beautiful process of letting go and beginning again.
With Care and Gratitude,
Julia Schubert, LCSW

November is Caregiver Support Month:
Recognizing the Signs of Burnout
November is a time to honor and support the millions of caregivers who dedicate their time, energy, and hearts to the well-being of others.
Caregivers often go above and beyond—whether caring for aging parents, children with special needs, or a spouse facing chronic illness. While the work is deeply meaningful, it can also be exhausting, and caregivers are particularly vulnerable to burnout.
What is Caregiver Burnout?
Caregiver burnout is a state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion caused by the chronic stress of caring for another person. Over time, it can affect your health, relationships, and overall quality of life. Recognizing the signs early is essential for maintaining your own well-being.
Common Signs and Symptoms of Caregiver Burnout
-
Physical Symptoms: Fatigue, sleep disturbances, frequent illness, and muscle tension.
-
Emotional Symptoms: Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or depressed; irritability; loss of patience.
-
Behavioral Changes: Withdrawing from social activities, neglecting personal responsibilities, or increased use of alcohol or other coping mechanisms.
-
Cognitive Effects: Difficulty concentrating, forgetfulness, or indecision.
-
Feeling Trapped or Guilty: Constantly feeling like you aren’t doing enough, or that asking for help is a failure.
Ways to Care for Yourself While Caring for Others
-
Ask for Help: Accept support from friends, family, or professional respite care.
-
Take Breaks: Schedule small moments for yourself daily, even if it’s just a short walk or reading a book.
-
Maintain Connections: Keep in touch with supportive friends or join a caregiver support group.
-
Set Boundaries: Recognize your limits and communicate them clearly.
-
Prioritize Health: Regular exercise, balanced meals, and routine medical checkups are essential.
You Are Not Alone
-
Caregiver Support Month is a reminder that taking care of yourself is just as important as caring for others. By acknowledging the signs of burnout and taking proactive steps, caregivers can sustain their own health and continue their vital work with love and energy.
This November, honor your efforts, recognize your limits, and remember: self-care is not selfish—it’s essential.

World Kindness Day: Small Acts, Big Impact
November 13th is World Kindness Day—a day to celebrate how even small acts of kindness can make a big difference. Kindness isn’t just good for others; it boosts your own mental and emotional well-being too!
Why It Matters:
Reduces stress and anxiety
Improves mood and resilience
Creates connection and community
Sparks more kindness in others
Kindness Challenge ~ Your Daily Act of Kindness:
Pick one small act today—it could be a compliment, a kind text, holding the door, or helping a neighbor. Notice how it makes you feel as much as it brightens someone else’s day.
Tip: Keep a small journal to track your acts—it’s amazing how these little moments add up!
Remember: Kindness is contagious. One small gesture can ripple far beyond what you see.

Lauren Matos
Medical Biller
This month, we’re proud to highlight a team member whose role is absolutely vital to the success and stability of our practice: Lauren Matos, Medical Biller.
Lauren works tirelessly behind the scenes, navigating the often-challenging world of insurance. She ensures verification of client benefits, submits accurate claims, manages payment posting, and resolves denials—all to keep reimbursement efficient and our operations running smoothly. It’s not an easy role, but one Lauren handles with precision and determination.
Before joining our team, Lauren dedicated 12 years to the Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where she gained extensive expertise in medical billing, payer guidelines, and compliance standards such as HIPAA. She is highly skilled in using electronic health record and practice management software, streamlining billing processes and strengthening overall efficiency.
What makes Lauren exceptional is not just her knowledge, but her heart for the people we serve. She genuinely cares about ensuring that patients don’t have to stress over the complexities of dealing with insurance companies. Lauren is committed to handling the behind-the-scenes work so that clients can focus fully on their well-being. Her goal is always to provide nothing but the best for them.
From the very beginning, we knew Lauren would be a perfect fit. Her strong healthcare background, passion for mental health, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities—combined with her deep commitment to client confidentiality and care—make her an invaluable asset.
We are truly grateful for Lauren’s dedication and drive for excellence. Wholistic Counseling is stronger because of her, and we’re honored to have her on our team!
