Hello friends,

It was so hard to resist using the email subject line “fall into a good book” when that’s all we want to do in October.

Crisp mornings and sun-dappled afternoons have us dreaming of more time to stretch out and read. Are you wrapped up in a story that you can’t quit?

Right now, there’s nothing we’re craving more than good books, soft blankets and warm beverages – life’s simple pleasures.

If your book pile is a little thin and you feel the need for new reads, it’s a snap to restock. Order a customized book bundle (Adults, Teens/YA fans, Children) and when your hand-selected order is ready, you can use our curbside pickup service at a time that works for you.

Celebrate your Freedom to Read

Get ready for an activity packed October as we spotlight Banned Books Week (Oct. 1 – 7).

Starting off the month, join us for a free showing of the 1962 movie adaptation of Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize winning novel To Kill a Mockingbird on Sat., Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Time Community Theater.

This film brings the book’s beloved characters to life in a way that will have you hooked – you’ll be thinking about Atticus, Scout, Dill, Jem, Tom and Boo long after the movie ends.

Stay tuned to our Facebook page for daily clues during our city-wide Scavenger Hunt for banned or challenged books. We also have plenty of in-depth book discussions and a fascinating YouTube series lined up for you.

Our trained therapy dogs are a little lonely these days and would love to listen to more kids practice their reading. Three dogs and their volunteer handlers visit the Children’s Department every Monday from 4 – 5 p.m. These friendly pups will be so happy to welcome you!
