Hiking
If the sweltering summer heat has prevented you from going outside for the past few months, now is the time to take advantage of the milder weather. Go for walks along trails, through parks and in the woods to boost your mood and experience nature in all its colorful beauty.
Backyard fires
Depending on where you live, there may have been issues with having a fire during the summer. If that still applies, then this isn’t for you. If, however, the weather is right, this is the perfect time to enjoy the crackle of flames outdoors as the days grow short. Invite everyone or keep it simple and intimate. Marshmallows still taste good even in cooler weather.
Camping
As with hiking, fall can provide the best weather for spending time outdoors. If you haven’t spent much time in nature this summer, this is the best time to take advantage of milder temperatures and fewer bugs (especially fewer bugs!).
Plein air painting
Summer is generally the outdoor painting time and you don’t have to be a professional or even a decent artist to enjoy this activity. Take advantage of having fewer insects to land in your paint, less intense sun to burn your skin and smaller crowds as the summer activities wind down.
Drives through the countryside
Take a long drive along tree lined country roads and experience the true beauty of this fleeting season. Before the cold weather forces you indoors for weeks on end, go for a drive with the family for bonding time or alone for a calming afternoon.
Picnics
Eating outdoors in the summer can be a pain with all the - you guessed it - annoying bugs trying to steal your food and rob you of your peace. This fall, take advantage of more comfortable temperatures, vivid colours and quieter environment by going on a picnic.
Baking
It’s not too early to start practicing and preparing for the various winter holidays and gatherings. Even in the fall, there are more than enough opportunities to serve up something warm, sweet and tasty. You don’t have to get outside to make the most of this season and your tastebuds will thank you.
Here’s to an amazing, fun, and relaxing fall season for you and your family!
