Speak up about how to use $813 million for storm recovery

Pinellas County has been awarded the largest federal hurricane recovery grant in Florida: more than $813 million. These Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery funds are intended to help people hit hardest by the 2024 storm season.

The County is developing programs to rebuild homes and businesses, help renters, restore infrastructure and make communities safer from future storms. Before that can happen, the County must finalize a plan that recognizes our communities' biggest unmet needs.

Free Countywide Tire Disposal Event

Pinellas County Mosquito Control and Pinellas County Solid Waste are teaming up to host a free tire collection event on Saturday, April 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.! Residents can bring up to 12 tires (no rims and no tires over 36 inches) to one of three free and convenient drop-off locations:

This event is for residents only, and tires from commercial entities will not be accepted. Government-issued ID will be required to verify Pinellas County residency.

Waste tires left in the environment collect water where mosquitoes breed. In fact, one scrap tire can lead to the breeding of thousands of mosquitoes over a single season. Removing these tires helps reduce the risk of mosquito-borne illnesses.
