Dear Members of the Purchase Children’s Center Family,
I hope everyone in your home is safe and healthy and persevering. I feel the greatest challenge throughout all of this is the unknown. It is hard to keep moving forward without knowing where the finish line is.
Governor Cuomo announced last week that he is closing schools for the remainder of the year. While it is good to finally know for sure, it also means that the Purchase Children’s Center will not re-open our in person program this year. We will continue our remote learning through June 4th. Our teachers are working on a virtual graduation for our four-year olds as well as plans to return your belongings, projects and artwork. Be on the lookout for emails on those topics.
Many of you have asked about our Little Sprouts Mini Camp that was scheduled from June 8th to June 26th. I think it is unlikely that we will be allowed to open any programs before June 29th. Therefore, our Little Sprouts Mini-Camp will not be held this summer.
We are closing out eight (8) weeks of quarantine today. If we look back on that time, I think we should all be proud of our kids, our spouses and ourselves for what we have accomplished. Never in my life would I have thought I would stay inside my house for two weeks straight, let alone eight. I want to especially thank our Director, Barbara Paci and all our teachers for their efforts throughout this most unusual experience. I also want to thank those of you who provided pictures for our Teacher Appreciation slide show. It was great seeing the students. There was not dry eye in the house (or on the Zoom call).
