Dear Members of the Purchase Day Camp Family,

I hope that everyone in your family and circle of friends are healthy and safe. From the coronavirus pandemic to the grocery store shortages to the confusing phased re-opening to the black lives matter protests, we have all been subject to a whirlwind of information and emotions over the last 100+ days.

The safety of our campers and staff have always been our first priority. Our second priority has always been providing a program that focuses on inclusivity, comradery and teamwork.

I know you have been waiting on a decision on our program for this summer. We received the camp reopening guidance from New York State last week. Since receiving this guidance, we have been working with our camp leadership TEAM to determine if and how camp could look this summer. To make a final decision, we need your help. There are some things we absolutely know, and I will outline them for you here. At the bottom is a link to a survey. Please click on that right now and answer the few questions. Your responses will guide us to determine what our program might look like this summer.

What We Know
Program Features:

  • Camp will not be eight weeks this year, nor will camp be a full day program this year.
  • If we have camp, it will likely start on July 13th and run through August 21st
  •  If we have camp, we will offer a 9:00am to 12:30 program.
  • The program would run for 3 sessions of 2 consecutive weeks each.
o   Session 1: July 13 to July 24
o   Session 2: July 27 to August 7
o   Session 3: August 10 to August 21
  • Each two-week session will cost $1400.
  • There will be three periods per day; Swim, Sports and an Enrichment Activity like Crafts or Woodworking.
  • There will be no swim instruction.
  • Bus service will not be available.
  • Lunch will not be available and campers will eat lunch at home; however, two snacks will be provided per day.
Safety Features:

A comprehensive list of protocols will be announced before camp begins but here are some of the mandatory features we will be implementing:

  • Verbal questionnaire and temperature check of all campers and staff daily.
  • Staff will wear masks at all times.
  • Campers are not required to wear masks.
  • Groups will be limited to 10 campers.
  • Enrollment will be for two week sessions only. No partial or crossover weeks permitted.
  • On rainy days, camp may be closed. We are working on this scenario. For purposes of the survey, assume that camp will be closed on rainy days. One rainy day is factored into the cost of each 2 week session. If we must close camp more than once in the session, each camper will receive a $100 credit towards 2021.
  • There will be no visiting this summer.
  • There will be no offsite trips this summer.
  • The Junior Leader program will feature only camper activities. There will be no leadership opportunities this summer.

There are many other things that will be happening behind the scenes like enhanced cleaning and sanitizing and scheduling activities to maximize social distancing.

Please let us know if this type of program will suit your needs. Take 60 seconds to complete the survey by clicking the button below.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. As we have already made clear, if our camp program does not satisfy your needs, you will receive a full credit for 2021. If you are not returning in 2021, you will receive a full refund by check before December 31, 2020.
