Chuck Knows Church

Chuck Knows Church is two online video series that help interpret complex subjects and issues in a fun, yet informative, way.  Each series features "Chuck" who helps us learn more about our church while inviting us to have deeper conversation with our pastor or priest.

The ORIGINAL SERIES is all about the objects, symbols and terms we often hear in church. Take a couple of minutes each week and have some fun while you learn from Chuck.  Each week a different video is released on YouTube and announced on the Chuck Knows Church Facebook page.  There are currently ore than 90 episodes available on a variety of topics with more being produced. Each episode is approximately 2-5 minutes.

THE COMMITTEE is a humorous and poignant online series that examines the struggles congregations face as they look toward a preferred future. Using real-world topics, The Committee is sure to open discussion in your church. Designed for both individual viewing and group study, each free episode also has a free downloadable study guide.  A new video is released each month on YouTube and announced on the Chuck Knows Church Facebook page.  We plan to produce 12 episodes that will address complicated subjects.  Each episode is approximately 10-13 minutes.

URGENT:
Nurses Needed
at Lakeshore's Camp Joy
June 7-12

In just over a month, 100 special needs campers will be coming to Lakeshore Camp Retreat-Center to participate in Camp Joy - a glorious week of unconditional love and Christian fellowship. The camp lasts from Sunday evening,  June 7 to Friday afternoon, June 12 . FOUR nurses are needed to help dispense all the meds needed through the week and attend to any first-aid issues that may arise. Today (May 6) I have only ONE nurse confirmed for the whole week. Yesterday, I found out that the best leads I had so far will not be able to come.

If you are a nurse (RN or LPN) or if you know a nurse who will be willing to give their service for Camp Joy please contact me ASAP at [email protected].

Please PRAY for this need AND share this need with those who might respond.

Bishop and Cabinet Announce Reduced Number of Districts with New Boundaries and Names

Beginning April 23, the Memphis Conference of The United Methodist Church (West Tennessee and Western Kentucky) will have new district boundaries and names, according to an announcement by Bishop William T. (Bill) McAlilly and the conference's district superintendents.

The Memphis Conference is an area that includes 421 churches (269 charges) in West Tennessee and Western Kentucky.

The new district configuration reduces the number of districts from seven to five (beginning April 23) and down to four by June 2016. New district names also are part of the changes.

To help explain the changes, click here to read a Q&A with Rev. Sky McCracken, superintendent of the Paducah District (to be renamed Purchase District) and newly named dean of the Memphis Conference cabinet.

Congregational Care

Join us at Trinity United Methodist Church
on May 11th at 6 p.m. for
training as Congregational Care Ministers.

CCMs are lay ministers who work alongside their pastor to provide care for their church family.

CCMs participate in a ministry of head, heart and hands.

Head - modeling after Christ, who is our head, to lead.

Heart - a calling in response to Gifts and Graces.

Hands- care on behalf of the church with compassion, active listening, scripture, and theological reflection.

Purchase District Rev. Superintendent Sky McCracken will lead us in how to pray with others, listen to others, visit others, help others through grieving and other ways to minister to our Congregations.

Register with Kim Morrison at 270-527-8282 or

Email at [email protected]

by May 5th.

Methodist Men of Western Kentucky

One-Time Fund Raiser

for  Lakeshore Capital Building Fund

Momentum is building for the One-Time "Make a Difference" Fund Raiser for the Lakeshore Building Campaign.  Groups of Methodist Men throughout western Kentucky are joining together to sponsor events for the purpose of making ONE GREAT IMPACT on the future of our Lakeshore Camp!

To date, we have four events already scheduled, with two more pending and in the process of setting dates.  In addition, several other churches (by way of your pastors in attendance at last Thursday's Paducah District Clergy meeting) have expressed a strong interest in participating.  This promises to be a great boost to the capital building project for LUMA - just how great depends on the number of fund raisers we have in the mix.

Men of the Methodist church (as well as women, youth, or any other group of common identity), working together, can make a difference!  Join us, and be a part of making a difference for Lakeshore.

District-wide Creative Worship Conference

August 8, 2015
8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
at Benton First UMC

We live in a culture obsessed with image and screens.  From the smartphones and tablet devices we carry everywhere we go, to the large screens in our living rooms; the world around us has shifted to a communication form that the church is still struggling to fully understand.

Regardless of worship style, it's imperative that the church learn to embrace and master the use of image and creativity in the way we communicate the gospel in worship.

Spend the day with creative worship specialist, author and worship coach Jason Moore in an event designed for churches of all sizes, budgets and means.  Whether your church has screens in worship, you are thinking about it, or have decided against them, this seminar has something for you.

Best experienced as a team, The Creative Worship Conference is filled with ideas that any church (large and small) can implement.  Learn time-tested methodologies that transcend the traditional vs. contemporary wars and that will result in a more connected worship experience.  Laugh, be inspired and walk away with clearly defined next steps for improved worship.

Deep, meaningful, transformative worship is within your grasp.  Register today!
