Oceanside’s NEW Source of Water
Pure Water Oceanside will purify recycled water to create a new, local
source of high-quality drinking water that is clean, safe, drought-proof
and environmentally sound. The project will produce enough water to
provide more than 30% of the city’s water supply.

Pipeline Construction News
Pipeline work on Douglas Drive has temporarily moved from North River Road to further south, near the bridge at the San Luis Rey River and Pala Road.
 
The light signal at the Douglas Drive/Pala Road intersection is scheduled to flash red through to the week of Nov. 20.
 
For the first three weeks of December pipe installation work will return to the North River Road/Douglas Drive intersection and move south toward Pala Road. Please use North River Road to access CVS, Carl's Jr., ARCO and AM/PM businesses.
 
Some lane and turn pockets will continue to be closed on Douglas Drive.
Coco Palms Drive - Section Closed
Well Drilling Update
Well preparation will begin the week of Nov. 9. This includes closing a section of Coco Palms Drive (south of Cherrystone St.) and installing sound walls around the future injection wells. The road closure will reduce construction time and impacts to nearby residents. 
24/7 drilling of the two injection wells on Coco Palms Drive will begin in mid-November. After drilling is complete, additional work will be conducted for testing and to install well infrastructure. The post-drilling work will take place Mon.-Fri., 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through summer 2021.
 
Each well is estimated to take three weeks once drilling begins. Drilling will occur 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Each well site will be surrounded by 16-foot-high sound wall to minimize impacts.

The combination of Pure Water Oceanside and recycled water expansion will supply half of the city’s water demands from local sources by 2030.

The significant increase in locally-created water will decrease the amount of imported water the city purchases, thereby giving the city more control over the cost of water and the ability to stabilize water rates.

Still Available!
Access to the river bike path from Douglas Dr. is still available on the west side of Douglas. Please make sure you cross safely at the cross walk at Pala Rd. and Douglas to access the path.
