East Student in Youth of the Year Competition
We are excited to have Senior Marena Fox Baker represent East in the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County Youth of the Year Competition! One of the exceptional youth candidates will become the local representative and compete in the statewide, and potentially, regional and national competitions with youth from other Boys & Girls Clubs. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County will be recognizing these outstanding individuals and announcing their 2023 Youth of the Year Winner on Thursday, January 26th. Good luck Marena!
New Lunch Alert - Burrito Bowls!
No need to go to Qdoba or Chipotle for a burrito bowl because East is introducing a new Lunch recipe: build your own burrito bowls! East High School's very own prostart class has been working all semester with the district nutrition team to build a new and improved lunch option. Check out the new student-developed menu item: Build Your Own Burrito Bowls on Wednesday, January 25th in the East cafeteria.
UW-Madison LEAP Forward Summer Internship Information
On Wednesday, January 25th, Health Science Pathway sophomores and juniors are invited to the Career Center during 3rd period to learn more about the UW Madison LEAP Forward Summer Internship, a 6 week paid internship for current MMSD Health Sciences Pathways sophomores and juniors 16 years of age or older. It is hosted by UW-Madison in collaboration with the Madison Metropolitan School District. As a LEAP Forward Intern, students will not only gain key practical experiences within the field of Health Sciences, but will also gain exposure to the opportunities which exist beyond High School, whether at UW-Madison or elsewhere. Students will become a UW-Madison student for 6 weeks while gaining critical hands-on experience through this LEAP Forward Internship. Trans Open & Lap Swim
Starting on Monday, January 23rd Madison School & Community Recreation is offering Open and Lap Swim for Trans folx in the Madison Community at the East High School Pool! Students who are concerned about the cost of the pool pass can connect with Michelle Borkovec for free admission.
Virtual East High Purgolder United Parent Meeting
Family members interested in meeting with the principal and other staff to share important information and partner in our efforts to provide students with the best educational experience possible at East, should join our us for our next Virtual East High Purgolder United Parent Meeting on Wednesday, January 25th from 6:00-7:00pm via Zoom.
