The mitzvah of matanot l'evyonim, gifts for the poor, is central to the spirit of Purim and reminds us that we are obligated and honored to extend a hand and remember those in need. Learn more about growing food insecurity, emergency need, and isolation in the Jewish community. Yad Chessed is a small nimble social service agency offering immediate emergency financial assistance, food support, and advice to Jews in our community. Yad Chassed social workers are in the field daily and directly with personal and financial support. Join us on February 2nd at 7 p.m., as Yad Chessed’s Nancy Kriegel shares stories from the ground and answer your questions about how our community is responding. Click here to join the Zoom call.
Pay it Forward by Making a Donation
From now until Purim, February 26 we will be collecting donations to fulfill this mitzvah. While we may be celebrating Purim differently this year, we know our community will still come together to donate to Yad Chessed. Click here to donate or mail a check to 440 Totten Pond Road Suite 401 Waltham, MA 02451. When donating online, please enter Temple Beth Avodah for the “in honor of” field. If you are mailing a check, please include Purim – Temple Beth Avodah in the check memo.
