Help Fill JFS' Kosher Food Pantries

Food insecurity is an issue experienced by more and more families across NJ. With rising food and gas prices, increased healthcare and insurance costs and more, many families and individuals in Middlesex County are struggling to put food on their tables each day. Your support of JFS Kosher Food Pantries helps make a direct impact on the lives of local families. Food insecurity does not discriminate and neither do we – JFS Kosher Food Pantries serve all residents regardless of background.

If you or someone you know is interested in holding a Food Drive to benefit JFS Kosher Food Pantries, please contact office@jfsmiddlesex.org for more information. Check out our pantry wish list here. If you know someone who is experiencing food insecurity, please send them to the JFS Kosher Food Pantries in our North Brunswick and Monroe Township offices, appointments available Monday through Friday.

In Grateful Appreciation: We are incredibly grateful to our community of donors to our Kosher Food Pantries and for the current Food Drive being hosted by our friends at Victory Subaru in Somerset NJ. Thank you!

A Second Life as New U.S. Citizens

When Orhan came to this country from Turkey six years ago with his wife and son, he knew building a new life would require hard work and determination. Though he acknowledges life comes with responsibilities and many challenges, he had a vision for what life as a U.S. Citizen would offer him and his family.

Last year, Orhan and his family reached out to JFS' Immigration & Citizenship Services to receive trusted support with applying for U.S. Citizenship. He also enrolled in JFS citizenship preparation classes, and this month, he and his son passed their naturalization exams.

"Becoming a U.S. Citizen is a Second Life for me and my wife. Becoming a U.S. Citizen is new beginning for my son." - Orhan, new U.S. Citizen

Orhan stopped by to share his experience with his fellow classmates, and he was very excited to start this new phase of his life as a U.S. citizen. For his son, who is currently an undergraduate student at Rutgers University, Orhan is especially excited to see what new opportunities and new beginnings await him.

If you know someone who could benefit from JFS Immigration & Citizenship services, call 732-777-1940, email office@jfsmiddlesex.org or share our flyer.

Get to Know JFS...

Each week, we will spotlight a JFS program in our Get to Know JFS Series – This week is our Lunch with Friends program.

JFS hosts Lunch with Friends 4 days per week, 2 days at JFS' Monroe office and 2 days at the Highland Park Community Center, with new programs and dates added monthly. These weekly lunches give seniors (60+ years) the opportunity to get out of the house and enjoy the company of friendly faces while enjoying a kosher meal, entertainment and stimulating discussions for the benefit of their physical and mental health.

For information on meeting dates and locations or to register, email office@jfsmiddlesex.org or call 732-777-1940. To help JFS continue these vital programs for seniors in our community, please donate online at www.jfsmiddlesex.org/donate and select "Senior Adult Services." Thank you!
