Tournament Legacy Grows

This year's tournament success in Costa Rica reinforces Viking's status as a dominant force in the sportfishing world. Various models excelled in high-profile events such as the Pelagic Rockstar Offshore Tournament, IGFA Open and Signature Triple Crown.

“We’re up against great competition, and our boats and teams continue to win,” said Pat Healey, Viking President and CEO, who also competes as an angler aboard Team Galati’s Vikings. “We’ve won more legs at the Signature Triple Crown than anyone else–and we’ve done it with a new fiberglass boat every year.”

Team Galati won the Triple Crown back-to-back in 2020 and 2021, fishing a 62 and a 58, respectively. The Viking 72 Rum Runner (below, left) took the crown in 2022, and Team Galati won the event in 2023 for an unprecedented third time. The Viking 64 Fish Tank finished second overall in 2024. Team Galati in 2025 had a stellar performance in Leg II (below, right), with Captain Tony Carrizosa leading the team and releasing an impressive 186 billfish for a second place overall finish.

In the inaugural IGFA event, an intense competition, Team Galati claimed the top spot, with an impressive 81 overall sailfish releases. “It was an incredible performance by Team Galati–they took the lead on Day 2 and never looked back,” says the IGFA’s Zack Bellapigna.

Three Vikings landed in the top five at the Pelagic Rockstar, competing against a fleet of 107 boats in Central America’s largest and richest fishing event. The 64 Fish Tank (below) won this tournament back-to-back in 2023 and 2024 and finished fourth this year; the Viking War Party (also a 64) finished second in the 2025 event.

Viking is poised to build on its legacy in Costa Rica and around the globe, pushing boundaries of what’s possible in the sportfishing arena.
