Puster Elementary Special Edition
April 4 , 2019
Puster Families,

Your kids looked so pretty and handsome for school pictures. I know what an effort that can be to pull off in the mornings! We have rescheduled pictures for April 16th with fingers crossed for no power outages that day.

Our students began competing in the UIL district competitions this week with Spelling and Creative Writing groups starting us off on Monday. The rest of the competitions will take place this Friday.

I hope you will be able to join us for Puster Pride on Friday. We will have our massive Lost and Found on display in the atrium. Please be sure to check for any lost items as we will be donating remaining items soon.

Finally, our 4th graders will be taking the writing STAAR test next week. Please see the note included for a slightly adjusted schedule. As always, we ask for no volunteers/visitors on testing days.

Thank you for the kind words of encouragement as we kicked off this first week. Have a great weekend!

Pride in Puster,
Holly

With the increased security measures the district is taking to ensure the highest level of safety on campuses, we will be asking all family and friends who attend the  Puster Pride Assembly on Friday, April 5  to follow standard procedures and sign in when they arrive on campus.

Our system will allow us to have a “Fast Pass” ready for you if you have already used our new sign-in system this year. By doing this, you may skip the line by requesting a “Fast Pass” prior to these events. If you have not signed in with us yet this year and would like to use the “Fast Pass” option, you can stop by the campus prior to the events to get registered. Please use the link(s) below to request your “Fast Pass”.

  • Keep in mind that you must sign up for a Fast Pass even if you received one at a prior campus event.

  • If you sign up for a “Fast Pass”, you may follow the signs and do not have to stop by the front office.

  • All visitors will be required to show their driver’s license regardless of if you use the “Fast Pass” option or not.

Educational Game Donation
In keeping with our #PusterKind initiative, we have another opportunity to make an impact at Burks Elementary (the same McKinney Title 1 Elementary school for which we did the Angel tree at Christmas). They need educational games for their classrooms and we believe that our community can make a difference for them by supplying them with this need. Please bring in any complete games that you no longer need or new games that you feel led to purchase. There will be a collection bin in the atrium to collect all your donations. We truly appreciate your kindness.

Lovejoy Offers Group Counseling

Lovejoy is offering group counseling for students for a variety of areas. The groups will meet weekly, during school hours, and will be facilitated by Lovejoy’s Social Worker, Noelle Gove, LCSW. The overall goal of the counseling groups is to address student’s social/emotional needs that may be impacting their experience and success at school. Groups are being offered, based on need, to every campus in the district, grades K-12.

If you are interested in your student participating in a group, please  click here to complete the interest form. Noelle Gove will be in contact with parents regarding further details of the group and to obtain consent for student participation. This form is not a consent for counseling, but rather a survey of interest.

Tutoring 101
Lovejoy ISD is pleased to welcome Tutoring 101 to the  Circle of Partners. Tutoring 101 and Lovejoy ISD have formed a revenue generating/sharing partnership to bring their services to Lovejoy families. Please see below for several offerings.

Private tutoring is available for students in grades K-12 in all subjects. Tutoring 101 recommends once a week tutoring for an hour to increase grades and learn subject matter more deeply. A once a week appointment usually results in an increase of one letter grade or more. Turn those C's into B's.

What is your SAT/ACT score? Want a better one? What do you need it to be?
Invest in a PSAT/SAT/ACT Prep program not just a class.
