  The Essentials of Good Sex

Good sex is a valuable part of any relationship. As opposed to bad or nonexistent sex which can cause disconnection and depletion of the body's energy system, good sex creates connection, balance and increase of the energy systems.
  • Good sex involves love
  • Good sex is an exchange
  • Good sex is energizing
  • Good sex comes from a committed relationship
  • Good sex means both partners are present for each other's needs
  • Good sex is pleasurable
  • Good sex is satisfying
  • Good sex is a total body experience
  • Good sex is a form of communication
  • Good sex is meaningful
  • Good sex is a whole greater than the sum of its parts
This list was excerpted from Jill Blakeway's book "Sex Again."  It is a fantastic book written from the Chinese medicine perspective and an essential for anyone experiencing low libido or wanting to have a more fulfilling love life.
Heart Health: A Valentine's Day gift!
Acupuncture and better health
The gift of acupuncture provides the much needed "time-out" from our busy lifestyles. Regardless if you are a weekend warrior, a car pool mom, corporate executive, or chronic pain patient, the common thread is stress.
Stress reduction is one of my primary interests and specialties. We now know that stress has been linked to detrimental health effects on the heart and brain. Using Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine perspective, I assess the nervous system, identify stressors, and create a treatment plan. The primary goals are to calm the nervous system and to create stamina and a sense of well being.
While resting on the table during treatment, the gentle needles are quietly working to create this inner sense of calm. The heart rate slows and your breath deepens.
Dr. Eshkevari and colleagues at Georgetown University School of Nursing, published their study in the Journal of Endocrinology on acupuncture and the biological mechanisms involved in acupuncture's stress reducing effects.

Four ways to celebrate Valentine's Day, (and they're not what you think)

It's February! We made it through the holidays just to get inundated with notions of chocolate, flowers and bling. But what if we pass on the chocolate and Ziggy cards and approach the day (or the whole month!) with a focus on connecting with the people we care about. Not just your significant other, but your best friend that you never have a chance to talk to for more than 4 minutes before a baby demands attention.
Share some time with someone. Make a pedicure date with your best friend. If you can't set aside that much time with everyone's busy schedules, drop off a piece of cake from your favorite bakery.
Appreciate someone. Look your favorite dry cleaner/butcher/school bus driver right in the eye and say, "Thank you. I can't tell you how much I appreciate what you do for me. You make my life easier."
Massage someone. I know, this sounds weird, huh? I'm a massage therapist and I'm telling you to Do It Yourself. But massage doesn't have to be an hour long ordeal with fancy oils and a complicated routine. Treat your partner to a ten minute shoulder or foot rub to help erase away the day's stress.
Give the gift of massage. Call us or pick up a gift certificate at your next appointment. We have gift certificates in 30, 60, or 90 minute increments. Give one to yourself or that special someone that makes your life easier.
Bonus: Connect with YOU. Not everyone schedules regular massage, and that's okay. But if it's been awhile, maybe it's time to practice a little self-care and get yourself a massage too. The best gift you can give to those you love is a happy, healthy you.
